Nice "Too early Observations" by Griff

Agreed on WRs - Malone, Smith, Williams and Jennings should be our WRs. Only coming off the field for performance lapses, injury, fatigue, Up 28+ on the scoreboard or if a youngster is consistently performing in practices.

One or two of the freshmen might be more polished receivers than Jennings.

I can see Malone and Smith both getting less starting reps unless they come up with the football on game day when it's in the air in their area. We have youngsters who have great hands catching the ball in practice, if they can understand the playbook AND block, some of the veteran WRs may be sitting down a lot more. Einstein's observation that doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result applies here. Putting the same anemic passing game WRs on the field and performing mediocre or less will NOT cut it on The Hill this year IMO. All the star rankings and hot girlfriends won't save a couple of these guys if they don't start getting it done before the Florida game IMO.

"It appears the team’s level of success will be determined by how well the players hold one another accountable for performance, improvement and focus moving forward."

I think this is key. So it seems now, these players are very fortunate to be working under this group of coaches (be accountable on field, and don't forget what you've been taught these 4 years, to be accountable off-field -- yes, keep being model citizens).

If there's any insiders who can comment, it would be nice to know more about what's being conveyed to the players in practice in terms of expectations.

The coaches sound pretty aggressive on the field, though media rules prohibit media from reporting exactly what’s being said. It’s safe to say Jones’ staff is setting high expectations and making their demands known.

I've heard good things about the receivers and QBs... I mean they haven't been perfect but it sounds like they are markedly better than this time last year

Smith is one of the better WR on the team.

Some of ya'll are funny. He's bailed Dobbs out more times than I can remember.

Have to agree, jeff. The comeback against Georgia likely doesn't transpire if Smith doesn't come down with that ball thrown behind his head. He had a few troubles his freshman year, but he played with a broken bone in his hand.

We are there physically its going to be all mental this year. Got to have the killer instinct that has been lacking.

When did this cat start covering the Vols again? I thought he went to Michigan, or Nova Scotia, or something... it appears that I'm behind the times (again).
