I got a nice surprise this morning. One of our program managers brought a neat surprise to me this morning. First he told me it was a revised budget then pulled out 3 pictures of Phil Fulmer and one of them was signed and addressed to me. WOW!:eek:k: His daughter just happened to be somewhere that Phil was recently and he (Mike, our Program Manager) told his daughter about me being a HUGE UT fan to get an autograph. So now I have 3 pictures of Phil and one of them to me!

That was nice. My boss would have told him that the Vols suck and come tell me about it.

Must have been at the breakfast bar at Shoney's.

Not a lack of humor, just a lack of tolerance for comments on people's physical and mental imperfections.

What would you call this then:

Yeah, especially ugly since the Bammer faithful will be in attendance. One day, we hope, the ideas of toothpaste and marrying outside of your own family will catch on.

Sorry you'll miss the game tomorrow. We'll leave an empty Jack glass out for you.

There is an obvious difference between making generalized jokes about a rival team/fanbase (which are, of course, largely untrue) and pointing at a person who is overweight and calling them fat. Agree?

I don't know? I mean, a lot of fat people are just glutonous food addicts while a lot of people with bad teeth probably grew up poor and didn't have access to proper dental care until it was past the point of no return.

Right on, and I'm agreeing that you shouldn't look at a less-fortunate person with bad dentition and call them "snaggletooth." The same goes for those with birth defects, mental deficiencies, handicaps, height extremes, etc. What I'm saying is that it is very different to take jabs at such groups as rival sports teams or those who inhabit the other side of the Mason-Dixon, especially when it is obvious that such comments are in jest and widely-accepted as exaggerated stereotypes.

We can agree to disagree on this. I wasn't trying to create controversy or this much debate -- I just get tired of hearing the "Phil" jokes. I think it's in poor taste, and give him some credit: he has made some progress. To be honest, I could care less if he weighs 100 or 500 pounds. . . .as long as he figures out a way to win football games and put me in Hotlanta this December.

:peace:
