Nice story on Max Arnold

Great story. Look forward to seeing him contribute. As if we needed any more confirmation that it was time for a coaching change.

Wish nothing but the best for him. He was my In-laws neighbor when he lived in Mckenzie. His family (which is very well off) moved from Humboldt to Mckenzie just so he could play football there. I met him once when he was still in high school. Good kid and loves the game. Cool story right.

It's great to see kids like Arnold and Jason Carr out of West Tennessee want to play for UT. We've missed on a lot of players from there in recent years. Carr is one of my favorite freshmen for taking the bus from Memphis to UT to help recruit.

I can tell you that when I was there in the 80's, for walk-ons it was much more like they described last year (coaches walking by without saying a word to you) -- from the top of the head coach, to the bottom of the equipment and training staff (but generally, the training staff wasn't too bad).

As a walk-on there was no "family" feel when I was there....it was all divided...divided by offense/defense, divided by scholarship and non-scholarship, divided by black and white (at least to a fairly significant degree), divided by positions.

This is now the 2nd time I've heard a story about walk-ons being treated like they are "real" members of the team. The other story was when CBJ first got the job and called every player on the roster...walk-ons included...introducing himself, getting to know them, and making them feel part of the team.

Color me pleased...and impressed.

I hope this kid sees the field on special teams and a couple of defensive plays maybe against teams like AP or S. alabama

I read this a few days ago. Hope this kid makes some big plays for us on Special teams and maybe in some starts against some of our weaker opponents. (Vandy) lol

Good read thanks for bringing it over here. It don't guarantee wins, but it sure as hell makes a man fight harder when the team is truly a team. Hope the young man continues to give his all for Tennessee.
