Nice Eric Berry Shoutout On Rivals

for the lazy:

Random thoughts and observations
• Tennessee strong safety Eric Berry may be the best all-around player in college football. He has seven interceptions, which he has returned for 265 yards and two touchdowns. Only two Tennessee receivers have that much receiving yardage and only one has more receiving touchdowns.

Thanks PJ!
Does that say something about our Receivers?
I would say that D. Moore and Gerald Jones are the receivers mentioned.

Makes you wonder why he hasn't been mentioned for the Heisman award? I know the Heisman generally is given to an offensive player, but it is an award for the best all around athlete. Just ask Peyton!

Because ESPN is not pushing him...Just go ask Charles Woodson how it is won from the defensive side

Unfortunately, to win the Heisman, you have to be on a national contending team. At least now-a-days you do. It used to go to the best overall athlete. I don't remember when that was the case recently. The last winner of the Heisman that was not on a contending team was Andre Ware of Houston in 1989.

If berry played for ohio state, michigan or usc he would be heavily considered for the heisman. They need to cram that trophy up them schools arses !!!

If he played for OSU or Michigan he wouldn't have a chance this year. USC maybe.

But he's not, and who knows what kind of drop in production he would face being on a team a lot better than us. I mean, if he's on USC, he's sharing tackles/picks with Rey, Cushing, Mays, Moala, ..etc. Sure he might play better, but he probably wouldn't have the same numbers.

Honestly though, to win it as a Heisman, you have to be responsible for a few things
1. Amazing defender, probably top 3
2. Good kick returner
3. Make huge plays on national TV
4. Play on a winning team
5. Be responsible for at least one game winning play somehow
6. Most important, have ESPN get behind you.

I understand all that. My point is the USC has 6 heisman winners, OSU has 6 heisman winners & Michigan has several, Tennessee has zilch, and I know we have had several players capable of winning it. To much politics in winning that one, thats why i say they can cram it !!! (peyton manning got robbed)

3/6 Isn't bad. Hell have 6/6 next year. Minus the Kick Return part. He'll make up for it in Interceptions to the HOUSE!
