Hue Jackson
Bill O’Brien

Jackson has the right personality for college. We don’t know about his ability to recruit, but he’s always been known as a players coach. He’s a good offensive mind and has run good NFL offenses. He brings NFL credibility and an NFL system, I think that’s a big draw for recruits. The only issue is whether Haslam will want Jackson at UT seeing as how he likely is going to fire him in CLE.

We already know Bill O’Brien’s story at the college level. He was surprisingly good and showed himself to be a good football mind and a surprisingly savvy recruiter. His classes weren’t highly ranked, but last years Rose Bowl team had a lot of key players from O’Brien’s classes. The question is whether he wants to be in college again. He may not want to stick around in Houston though with some current drama.

BTW this is not a rumor that they are in the running, just throwing out names.

Hue Jackson was actually interested in the job when we hired Butch. I don’t think Hart took him seriously.

Why would we want Jackson who has ties to the most incompetent family with big control over UT in the Haslam’s?

Secondly, why in the hell would Bill O’Brien come back to college when he has Deshaun Watson blazing it up in Houston?

Are people really this insane and crazy? Has Butch really made a lot of people in this fan base this big of Village Idiots?

The dumb ideas keep coming and coming.how can the fan base be this stupid.

Well it was a suggestion and I stated the biggest obstacle is whether or not he wants to return to college. There’s controversy going on in Houston now and he’s proven nothing at the pro level as a HC. Watson isn’t blazing it up either, he’s 3-3 with wins coming over CIN, CLE, and TEN...not exactly beating up the leagues best. O’Brien’s on the hot seat and while he might be okay going back to being an OC in the NFL, something tells me he’s the kind of guy who wants to be the head coach. Give him enough money and control of his program then he MIGHT be interested. It was just an idea though, not someone who had been discussed before.

Jackson is a good coach. It’s not his fault he can’t win at The Factory of Sadness. He can actually develop a QB and I think could motivate our guys to perform up to their abilities.

There is zero controversy in Houston. And if you can’t see that Watson is playing lights out, you literally know nothing about football.

There is nothing to suggest O’Brien wants or would return to college.

What? Watson is killing it.

So sensitive. Sorry I’m not discussing realistic options like Jon Gruden.

I never said we should hire Strong. Quit being an a$$

Yes you did. You were on Mullen till Orgeron wiped his azz with him. Then tell us how good Strong was. And your feelings got hurt when we pointed out he followed a good coach that already had a good roster there.

Then here you are calling out posters for listing names that are as sh***y as yours.

Well first off, LSU got whooped by Mullen so there’s your first lie.

Second of all, I never said UT should pick Strong as the first and only hire. I had him 5th on my list.

Lastly, because you love to just cause arguments, you literally have nothing of value to add and are just looking to cause a ruckus because you’re dumb.

Also, it just shows how small your mental capacity is if you think Hue Jackson or Bill O’Brien have any interest in college coaching.

Not belabor this point, but things aren't all a-okay with O'Brien in Houston...

Texans wondering if Bill O’Brien is the right coach for the Deshaun Watson era - SBNation.com

O’Brien is in the fourth year of a five-year Texans contract. McNair said last spring about extending O’Brien: "We’ll sit down (at the end of this season) and see what he’s happy with and if he wants to be extended and see how we feel."

How they "feel"?

The owner and his management team are wondering if O’Brien is the right man with the right temperament with the proper coaching courage to lead Houston in this new DeShaun Watson era, sources within the Texans told me Monday morning.

He must continue to manage a potentially volatile situation in his locker room while building Watson and this explosive Houston offense. He must adjust his coaching to reflect that the strength of this team is now offense, not defense, a complete reversal of what the Texans have been under O’Brien.

O’Brien helped manage a sticky situation when McNair’s "inmates running the prison …" comments that were revealed last week. He is 30-25 and winner of consecutive divisional titles. His team is 3-4 now.

So yes I will admit I was wrong to question Watson, who is playing well, I don't think it's unrealistic to believe Bill O'Brien will be available. The question is, and I said that in the initial post, is whether Bill would rather stay in the NFL or return to college. Some guys just want to be in the NFL, but some guys want to run their own program regardless of level. That's not a ridiculous concept, we've seen plenty of guys turn down coordinator jobs at every level to become HC's at a lower level. So no, there's been no indication he wants to return to college, it's called speculation.
