NFL Game Thread

Cause he can only play the slot? Deion Branch started for christ sake, so you are telling me Bradys best WR couldn't beat out Deion Branch? I rest my case.

He was a good WR. He had the injury bug in Seattle, but Hasselbeck got about as much out of Branch as Brady did, when you look at per game stats.

Poor him, he was absolutely stacked for years with stellar defenses and all pro offensive lines. Sorry, I wont shed a tear for Brady.

All pro offensive lines? The three super bowl years not one patriot lineman made the pro bowl. Mankins is a surefire hall of famer, but that's it. Light was an above average tackle, but won't sniff Canton. The rest were gritty overachievers who played well as a unit.

This is disingenuous BS.

Manning has had tons of WRs and almost all of them had their best years with him (with the exceptions of Garcon who was a #3, and is now a #1, and Welker, who has aged, and has been injured a lot).

I don't know if I can name a guy Manning hasn't had a good connection with, let alone an established player that joined him and didn't succeed.

He made Jacob Tamme a star. He led the league in receptions for the last half of a season when he got the opportunity to start. Austin Collie was leading the league in yards in like week 6, before he started his string of concussions. Dallas Clark did nothing without him. Marcus Pollard signed a big contract with Detroit and disappeared. etc.

All I can think of is nobodies that stood out in Manning's offense.

Hyperbole...again.

Edited: because I'm not arguing over something that wasn't even meant as a knock, but you took offense to. Players have said, "if I don't run the right route or am not in the right spot I'm not getting the ball" I'll assume they know more than us.

Facts smacts.

I stand corrected

You really are ridiculous sometimes. I wasn't even remotely knocking PM. Just said him and Tom expect excellence of their guys, and you lose your damned mind.

too many >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

So you like Brady's D better than Peyton's? Whats the best D you have had?

That Ravens D was awesome. Gnata could really plug a hole, then Ray would really hit the gap hard, and Ed Reed was a master with the ball in his hand...

Above average? Sorry, you can't watch Tom Brady sit comfortably in the pocket as long as he did and say his blindside T was just "above average".

Pro bowls are a pretty poor measure of OL talent. The general public messes up when voting for the positions everyone pays attention to, let alone OL.

I agree with Pro Bowl selections, just like every all star game it's just a popularity contest.

Ok **** pro bowls. How about all pro teams. The guy made one his entire career. He was an above average offensive tackle. Which means he was a pretty damn good player.

My favorite example is Flozell Adams leading the league in penalties, and starting the Pro Bowl. It's like they only knew his name because it's weird, and they heard it every time he held and false-started, but couldn't remember why his name was familiar.

"Above average" is not another way of saying "pretty damn good", IMO. But it seems we agree on him, after all.

Hoenstly I think both guys played behind pretty damn good lines for their whole careers...well until now for Brady.

IMO, Manning had a pretty great pass-protecting line for about 5-6 years in Indy, and his first year in Denver. Above average most years, but some years we didn't notice how average/bad they were because his snap-to-release time is by far the fastest in the league.

He only had a good run-blocking line a few years, his entire career.
