Your usually a decent poster, but I'm glad you don't get paid for your opinion. That is all. Hardesty isn't a 1st round back. RB is not a big need this year in the draft either.
Your opinion is worth diddly squat as well...so what's new?
Hardesty is definitely positioning himself to be a 1st Rd caliber back...we won't know too much until after the combines. If he's running a 4.4, he could easily get a 1st Rd grade. Why...cause he is a COMPLETE back. He does it all...unlike Lendale White. Jevon Ringer's stock dropped because, despite his work/stats in the the Big 10, he was a little on the slow side (had a 4.6 40 I believe), plus he's on the small side.
Hardesty is what you're looking for in an NFL RB. Size (6'0 220) Speed, power, vision, elusiveness, good hands, protects the ball, yet can carry defenders for that extra yardage, great work ethic, etc...and he's shown a great deal of durability this season. I have been totally impressed with him this year, and I'm sure plenty of NFL team will be too.
You forget, with all the NFL connections this staff has, Hardesty's likely to go much sooner than otherwise.
What neither you nor I can tell is how much demand there will be for RB's in the 1st-2nd Rd. Plenty of times 1st Rd graded prospects slip into later rds for various reasons....doesn't mean my opinion about his draftability is worth less than your own.
RB's don't last that long in the NFL, and what's more is every team wants an effective tandem instead of that one guy who gets all the carries. Those days are long gone. The Titans didn't really need a RB last year, but they got one anyway (J. Ringer), in the later rounds.
The Texans need a RB to go with Slaton...the Patriots need one...they have some old-timers with Fred Taylor and Faulk. There are plenty other teams that could stand to upgrade their talent at that position. That will never change.
