Nfl cuts

Good for JG. That’s pretty impressive as McSorley was certainly the better college QB.
McSorley wasn't close to 60% completion his senior year, which projects poorly to NFL play. He was barely throwing 50% during the preseason this year, too. Guarantano is a much more accurate passer.

Hope they keep him when Watson comes back. With Cleveland owned by Haslam that's in Dobbs favor plus he has played well enough in preseason to justify it. Keep that NASA job on hold for a couple more yrs.
for some reason I read "Keep that NASA job on hold for a couple more yrs." AS "Keep that NASCAR job on hold for a couple of years". and I thought "what?"

So far, the only Vols or former Vols I've seen cut were:

Josh Malone from the Titans
DeAndre Johnson from the Dolphins
Bryce Thompson from the Saints
Preston Williams from the Dolphins (really surprising there)
Nathan Peterman from the Bears
Theo Jackson from the titans

Surprised the Will Grier was cut. Now the Cowboys only QB on the 53 man roster is Dak Prescott.
Don't they still have DiNucci and Rush?

EDIT: I see they cut all but Dak. They will sign a backup, but maybe they are waiting to see who is available after all cuts or looking to restructure some deals.

I saw that after posting. Strange, but they will add 1-2 to the roster after checking cuts and restructuring deals. The have to sign at least one before the first game.

edit: Just read that they kept James Washington and Tyron Smith on the 53-man roster, but both are injured and will move to an injured list on Wednesday. That move allows both to come back later this year. Once those guys are moved to injured list, then the Cowboys can add back 1-2 QBs.

McSorley college stats:
59.3% 9,899 yards, 8.1 ypa, 77 TD, 25 Int (1,215 attempts), that’s an interception every 49 attempts. Plus, 1,697 rushing yards and 30 TDs.

JG college stats:
61.5% 6,478 yards, 7.6 ypa, 39 TD, 20 Int (857 attempts), that’s an interception every 43 attempts. Plus -68 rushing yards and 5 TDs.

There’s literally no comparison. McSorley wasn’t great but he was better than JG in college and it’s really not close.

McSorley threw 66% as a junior but 53% as a senior, and in 3 years as an NFL player had shown himself to be more like his senior numbers than his junior numbers.

JG threw 61, 62, and 59, then missed most of last year with injury. So far he hasn't shown any sign of missing that mark in limited action, which is all he would see as an emergency QB anyway. Completion percentage is the stat that translates most clearly between levels and he's shown consistency in that, while McSorley has shown his ceiling is below the mark.

That’s literally the only stat were Guarantano is any better at all and he is marginally better. Plus McSorley was drafted while Guarantano was not. NFL teams know what McSorley is by now whereas Guarantano is fresh out of college so he still could have some development so it would make him a more intriguing prospect than McSorley if they’re similar to scouts. Regardless, the bottom line is neither one of them are on a team though.

He ain’t got Dobbs wheels or guts , I concur. Dobbs accuracy has improved

Wait. You mean a QB has actually improved with almost 6 years of NFL level coaching? That can’t be. Well because here people are bashing JG after 1 year saying he can never make it. Interesting. And Dobbs accuracy has improved. Against 3rd stringers and one’s fighting for a roster spot.

It's literally the only stat that means much of anything from one level to the other. Beyond that, the scouts have to actually look at the way they play. Realistically neither of these guys are likely to make it far in the NFL, but there's a good reason why you would give JG a chance and let McSorley find another place.

Strange. You think you can pick up back ups anywhere but watching the giants roll with Mike Glennon and Colt McCoy LY was pure torture. Having Dobbs is a huge plus for browns.

Fair enough. My point was TM was better in college and at the time I thought JG was kept over TM but that turned out not to be true.

But the NY Football Giants had such an awesome coaching staff last year.

They had at least two guys that we fired.
Wasn't Jason Garrett the OC last year also? There's your first problem.
