Neyland to become Commonwealth

This thread reminds me of what happened in '92 in Memphis. As we all know the Big Orange was 0-6 and playing the Tigers in the Liberty Bowl. I was waiting at a red light to cross the street to go to the stadium and a bunch of young Memphis guys behind me were shouting "y'all are getting ready to be 0-7". I just turned around and glared at them but what really shut them up was what the lady in front of me dressed in orange said. She turned, looked them directly in their eyes and said " Well, I guess you guys know what that feels like." The silence was deafening at that point. Oh yeah, forgot to mention Tennessee won and the Tiger fans slunk back to their cars with their tails between their legs.

Ok, '88. For some reason I thought it was the back stabbing year but you're right. Fulmer took over and beat Georgia when nobody thought they would. Gotta give me some breaks for early onset Alzheimers.. :)

There has never been a more perfect chance for UK to beat us. And they are so excited about it. Don't know what is more pathetic, our results this year or their excitement that they may actually beat us.

I actually thought the same thing last year, oh well.:hi:

Interesting that they mentioned fans giving up on the team.... weren't they one of the major schools with the lowest attendance? Didn't they average like 30,000 one season? I can't remember where I heard that.... but anyway...

I would have to say you're wrong on that one. For a school that has sucked for so long at football, they have supported the team pretty well over the years.

I grew up in Kentucky, so I would like to see them squeak out a win over the Vols. I'm a bigger Vols fan, but Kentucky football is just more exciting to watch, at least lately. They play with heart and do a lot of things with a little bit of talent. Plus, they have Randall Cobb, Alcoa's ex QB

You're a bigger Vols fan, and you want to see KY beat UT???

I should have reworded that. I will be happy if either of them win. But it would mean a lot for Kentucky to finally beat the Vols, and the Vols are just playing for pride at that point. Kentucky just seems more emotional when they win. Rich Brooks is a great coach in my opinion. He does good with the talent he has, and personally, Kentucky is a lot more fun to watch than Tennessee this season. They have a halfway decent offense.

Exactly. The possibility of seeing Billy Clyde v. Huggs will draw the Kentucky fans who don't trade government cheese for cigarettes. We'll be stuck with some of the rest.

Government cheese is as good as cash, don't you know that?

I'll be there, and I hope all my Blue Brethren can be there to pay Phil tribute. :whistling:
