I got an email from bleacher report and it said Hart decided to rip up the grass from the stadium, but you have to be an insider to find out why, or what there doing. Does anyone know?

I don't know about the grass, but I always felt Neyland had a bigger dome in the middle of the field, when compared to others. I assume its regulated somehow, but I don't know.

TOS stated how the field had been getting worse and worse over the past few years and it was time to re-sod it.

Yes, Neyland Stadium has always had a large crown on the field. You could really tell it when the artificial turf was there.

A lot of fields that are multi-use or domes don't have crowns. It can be both an advantage or disadvantage.

Need to learn how to paint the T better. Looks horrible on tv and instead should be a symbol of strength and power. No problem with dome in middle, good for drainage. No excuse with our budget for every blade of grass to not be perfect....bravo to Hart.

Love the comment about Palardy. Classic.

Any chance they go with field turf? I work at Maryland and they are in the process of digging the field up and putting field turf down. Rumor has it it may look like this (if you hated the jerseys from last year, you're not gonna like this). I loved the jerseys and love the rumor that the field could look like this.

That makes me want to puke. Almost as bad as Oregons bball court. Surely the NCAA wouldnt let them do that.

.

I agree. I made the comment on here that the field looked unusually bad and I asked if there was a weather issue in East Tennessee. It was one game after they had overseeded it.

I was accused of being a troll, etc.

Football fields take a beating and need to be replaced every so often. It should look great in Sept. They'll probably sprig it soon.

Just re-soding. It had been 5 years, which is the usual life for a bermuda field in this climate.

They'll also be reducing the crown a bit. The entire field had grown about 6 inches thanks to sand and ferterlizer over the years since the last re-sod.

Do they sod or sprig? When the original grass was installed it was sprigged.
