Neyland Stadium sign going up

I agree with you there.

Auburn: Campus was very nice but the speakers sounded busted in the stadium and they played music over them WAY too much.

Arkansas: Fans were the worst. Only part of that trip I liked was the Ozarks and seeing them do the Pig Sooey. Stadium was ok.

I was going to post something about that in the other response but I decided to leave it out. Now I'm glad to see somebody else mention it because at the '09 UT/AU game the stadium was so quiet all I could hear were those stupid awful sounding pain generators. It's like they were trying to pump 100000 watts of audio through a couple of pa horns and all they got was absolutely horrible distortion.

I've also been out to Fayetteville, Ark. for our game against them in '95. I was actually impressed by the campus setting. The stadium was a little "small time" compared to Neyland, but the weather was gorgeous and we had a nice view of the Ozarks. We sat in the heart of the season ticket section, so I got to witness some of their best fans first hand. One biker gang looking guy who was sitting in front of us told me he didn't like me or Tennessee at all but at the end of the game he did say he respected our team after Peyton lit them up. One day I'd like to go back and see us play there again.

See, I had a terrible time in Athens and I didn't think Auburn was anything special.

Gainesville was nuts and Baton Rouge is an awesome time.

Bryant Denny is very nice but I don't know how serious I can take it now that they have a Saban statue up.

I'll always prefer Neyland but I'd put those three above right now if I put aside my obvious bias.

When Tennessee starts winning again, Knoxville will be right back up there.

I don't think anything can trump that eerie feeling of a night game at Baton Rouge though. You get goosebumps even if you aren't a fan (I did at least). It's surreal.

I agree with all of this... I've been to Gainesville 3 times, Athens 3 times, Bama 3 times, Auburn twice, SC twice, Kentucky once, Ole Miss once, MSU once, and Vandy many times. When Neyland is home to a winning team, it is definitely at the top of the list. Bama and UF are the only ones that I would say are even near the atmosphere of Neyland... and of course, they have a bit of an advantage these days.

Auburn is a good time and can be loud when they're winning... but if you were there in '09, it was either completely silent or deafening with boos.... not on Neyland's level. Also, UGA is a terrible place for football. Quiet stadium with terrible planning (open end-zone, third deck, etc). Not on our level.

I'm headed to LSU this fall for the first time as our last trip was cancelled by Katrina. Can't wait to tailgate w/ the crazy-a$$ cajuns in Baton Rouge. Hope that a bunch of y'all are heading down as well!

That is pretty rough. One other goof I have noticed this year... If any of you are students, my wife purchased the official day planner from Rocky Top Books... EVERY SINGLE HOME GAME SAYS LANE STADIUM INSTEAD OF NEYLAND!!!

I told her to take it back and demand they pull them off the shelves! Absolutely ridiculous

Besides Neyland (Been everywhere but LSU, Ole Miss and Ark)

Best Crowd - Florida Tenn
Loudest Stadium - Florida
Best gameday weekend - Alabama Tenn
Best Bar Scene - Georgia
Best Tailgating - Alabama Tenn
Nicest Fans - Auburn and Miss St.
Worst Fans - Florida and it isn't even close
Nicest Stadium - Bama We are damn close
Prettiest Campus - Georgia
Best stadium entrance - Auburn and SC. Tenn

Tennessee is in Orange for the ones that I personally think we are the best

Deerpark would probably be the best to answer that but I think the main things on this half of the phase were the exterior and the Tennessee Terrace. I am assuming they might be doing some concourse widening as well but not sure.

I got this from an article:

in the next few years they are also going to build a gate plaza at gate 10 and removing that ramp to put in addition of elevators and stairwell... and renovation of more concourse areas

Best stadium ALABAMA? Bryant Denny was so boring to me. And taking the circular ramp all the way up to the upperdecks was worse than the scissor stairs at Neyland. Fell in love with Alabama's campus though.

i didn't see this posted anywhere but here is a link showing all the improvements made in the last 4 or 5 years the improvements being made now and those to come.. has illustrations as well..

NO! They can't change anything about the University. What about our long running tradition of not having the name of the stadium up. Why God! WHY!!!!!! :D
