Neyland Stadium Renovations - Updated

From another thread a student got the following information.

Items already completed include sod around the ampitheatre, trees, lights, etc.

1. Wednesday, they will put up the Shields Watkins Field Sign below the Neyland Stadium Sign.
2. They will also put up a lit power T above the Neyland Stadium sign.
3. The pedestal looking think in front of the ampitheatre is a light tower. According to the construction man, there will be a 16 foot orb or globe on top of it with a bright light in the middle. It is not a radio tower. I know it sounds crazy, but that is what he said.
4. The curved walls by the pedestal are only to cover the large transformers for the light tower. The call in show will be broadcast from the concrete steps on the opposite side of the light tower in front of the ampitheatre.
5. The entrance will still be used as a bus stop both during games and throughout the school year.
6. Flags will be hung from the gate 21 entrance presumably for championship years.
7. Eventually there will be similar (but not as large) plazas on all four corners of the stadium. This will begin two years from now at gate 10 (the ramp will be taken away and elevators put in).

I can't wait to get some daily updated pics of all this work yet to be done!

Yes!!!!... I've been worried they weren't going to put Shields Watkins sign back up

was it weird that when i looked at these pictures i kissed the computer screen and gently gave my screen a hug?:dance2::rock:

my mom works for the company doing all of the construction at ut so i was able to capture some pics of neyland inside and out. i'm going to post them, i took the pics aug 23rd. they are huge like 3000x something so i have to resize them. please be patient

The second picture there is doctored. The left side should have a parking lot where the trees are. Still looks great though.

Not true, in one of the daylight pics you can see the trees in front of the Neyland Stadium signs. I think you are correct that there is a parking lot in the area, but there are trees as well. This is truly what you'll see if you approach from that direction. Nice isn't it?

Nope, on that corner, it's a lot with no trees and no stone wall.

Looks like whoever took it just flipped the other side of the street. Looks great, tho.
