Tennessee FundDoes anyone know when the exterior renovations are scheduled to be completed?
Renovations to Neyland Stadium will take place in a separately funded, phased approach, to ensure fiscal responsibility:
Phases IV and V -- Contingent on future funding
Phase III -- Scheduled for completion August 2010
Phase II -- Completed August 2008
Phase I -- Completed August 2006
The Neyland Stadium Master Plan renovations must be entirely funded by private leadership donations and annual revenue generated by priority seats, East and West Club, and Tennessee Terrace seat contributions. No university funds or taxpayer subsidies are planned to be used in financing the projected $200 million in renovations.
The more I see of the new brick work, the more I hate that metallic terrace. Seems like completely contrasting architecture styles.
i wish that they would match the color of the panels. personally i prefer the silver ones rather than the off creme colored ones.
I suspect that the plans for the South end will change somewhat from the master plan since the Gate 21 and West side are both different from the original.
i wouldn't be surprised to see something similar to the Gate 21 design used at Gate 10 and some variation of the same at the SE corner to provide some symmetry.
Also, with the completion of the Kao Building and construction of the Tickle Building on Neyland Drive, some of the engineering depts. will be moving into new facilities. Doesn't sound like the Estabrook and Berry Halls will be renovated. I could see those being demolished and the East side of the stadium upgraded with a look similar to the West with the addition of a courtyard.
Holy cow, I never really considered that. That could look really good. But we are talking 10-20+ years down the road.
I know people have been wondering about the statue of Gen. Neyland and what it will look like. Been meaning to post this for a while Last year before the Memphis game I got to take a tour of the stadium. There was a about to be a meeting to discuss the statue o. A player from the '58 team had two folders of pictures of spread out on a table. In these pics he had an example of what the statue would more than likely look like. Very cool collection of pics. Here are a few I managed to get a shot of. The last one is of the example of the statue.
