Neyland Stadium Renovations - Updated

There's alot you can do with an empty sprite bottle.

One of my first jobs, I was on a trade desk at at wire house in Ohio, and the lady in the cubicle next to me would sip on her Sprite bottle all day long and lived on Altoids. She was eventually caught after 2 years, only because her ex, who also worked there, ratted her out.

What?

A post full of substance, and relevant material.

Edit: On a side note I'm right by the stadium right now, so if there is still enough light when I get out of class I'll try and snap a few pics.

Look at the date my friend. That post was June of 2009, when they began taking down the original jumbotron.

ohh ok that makes more sense. I was hoping they were going to do something about the advertisement that takes over half of the jumbotron.

dang it.

have they got plans in place to expand neyland up to 110,000? UT needs to keep the stadium in front of Alabama and maybe michigan.

No, they are currently downgrading the stadium and the tickets are getting so expensive that only corporate CEO's will be able to afford them.

what advertisement? the whole jumbotron is one giant screen.

Thank you. I thought I was the only one that realized that. They expanded the jumbo tron and when you look at it the pic looks like a 19 in screen with a Food City or Verizon advertisement all over it.

Mikey's got to make up the money someway since he reduced the seats

Are they taking out the window AC units?

Leave it to a Kentucky Wildcunt to notice an AC window unit at Neyland. I guess when you haven't won there since the 70's thats all you have to do is look around the stadium rather than on the field...lol!:dance2:

they have AC units at Neyland? interesting. There's more for me to do there than worry about the HVAC concerns. But that's what football fans do.

The ritzier sections of the stadium (TN Terrace, East and West Clubs) are very expensive, but the rest of the stadium remains about the same as it's always been. Ticket prices have increased a bit in the past few years, but so has the cost of just about everything else so I guess that's to be expected.

This is what i was talkin about. they need to have billboards on the side of the jumbotron for the advertisement instead of the advertisement within the video and takin up space. Its so dumb.

Can I ask what difference that ends up making? The ads will take up the same amount of space whether they are digital or permanent. Plus, with digital ads they can constantly change them and bring in more money for the athletic department.

Here are the pics I said I would take.

Additions for new main gate entry way:

Work on the new amphitheater for use by students and pre-game call in show.

something the teachers will never let the students use because teachers are jerks and won't let students have class outside...
Aaaaah! There! I felt like a student again! lol

If you buy a 50 in HD tv, do you watch the PIP only?

The jumbo tron is great......when they dont have the commericals on it. At the first of the game when they intro the players, the entire jumbo tron is used. Side to side, bottom to top. When they show a replay (IMO much more important that seeing the backside of a player's head), the screen is split in half. You have a full screen, I want to see the the play on the full screen. Sell your ads during player intros.

Thanks, MH.

It would make a HUGE difference. For some reason I don't think we are on the same page. What i'm saying is keep the jumbotron and make it a full screen and everything and go buy some billboards like you see on the sides of the interstates and place them to the side of them so the advertisement is aways up and we always have a full screen video of the game and stuff like that.

By the way great pictures, im glad they are doing that this year and thats the gate i go in.

This is an example of what i meant, please i know its terrible drawing but i had to show a picture of what i was talkin about.

No, we definitely weren't on the same page. At the same time though I don't know how well the fan base would react to the edge of the stadium being lined with billboards full of ads. What we have now is worlds better than what we had for the many years prior. At least now they have the option to use the full screen, whereas before that choice didn't exist.

Ad revenue drives the business of college sports now, football in particular. Its sad that we can't get around that. At least we don't need to license out the name of our stadium like some other programs have to do to generate revenue. Just imagine, "Verizon-Neyland Stadium"
