Neyland Stadium Nickname

Don't know about a Nickname but I've always wanted to see "Tennessee" sound off a Train Horn after every touchdown. Some teams got cannons and musquetts but Tennessee needs a loud Train Horn to sound just before Rocky Top lol.

How does a train fit into this picture?

I think it should be "Dueling Banjos", so the opposing teams will get cramps from puckering up every time they hear it! lol

He's got a purty mouth! lol

wouldn't that basically replicate what Vanderbilt does? Do you want to be in that company?

didn't CPF once try to name it 'the Rock' and that foolishness fell flat as a tortilla?

I agree with others, unofficially, it has been Rocky Top.
However, I could see The General's Battlefield or something that combines the history of Neyland with all the history that is UT

Wed don't need a nickname....we have enough tradition and history that adding a nickname now just seems chumphy. Big House works well for missagain and swamp works well for gators (who I hate more then a fridge without beer) but it's a little late to add a nickname JIMO!

Also....smelling jack or dickel in the air everytime I went to a game as a student is a memory I still "smell" today!
Something in reference to a whiskey barrel or old number 7, etc. would make sense. But that would never happen. And you cant use "dickel" b/c that is too easy for people to use to insult us haha!

Shields-Watkins Field.

The stadium was actually originally named this by Colonel W. S. SHIELDS. It was later renamed to Neyland. The field still holds the name though you are correct.

How do I kniw this? Because I am also W. S. Shields. Just not a Colonel ;)

On topic - announcers refer to playing in TN as playing at Rocky Top sometimes.

Good grief you people are ANAL...

I always thought it was Rocky Top...which is perfectly fine with me...but for fun...I really like the Volhalla one...great word play.

It's Volhalla for me anyway. Neyland Stadium gives a very unique and incredible experience.

No, but I suggest changing Sanford Stadium from "Between the Hedges" to "Behind the Bars."
