Neyland Stadium And new facilities

I would agree that our tiny bench seating is very uncomfortable. I am 6'4" and my knees always end up in someone's back or I have to sit diagonal and take up 1.5 seats. Sitting next to sweaty, obese folks isnt fun either. Most of my friends tailgate and watch the game at the tailgate with a tv/bathroom nearby/cold beer and food. We enjoy that alot more than going in the stadium.

I wouldnt mind the stadium losing a little "capacity" in favor of better seating. Put bucket seats like they have in yy down in the lower bowl. If capacity goes from 102k to 100k so be it. I dont guess it really matters since i spend most of the time on my feet, but there is no realistic way a real mans ass fits in the space they say it should on the bleacher seats.

I like your way of thinkin :hi:

Quit being so damn tall. Problem solved.

Haha..6-4 isnt that tall...my point is the bench seats are way too small. If you havent experienced a game in Neyland, then you gotta go...but if you have been to alot of games, then most folks I know opt for a house party or just tailgate and avoid being packed in the stadium like sardines.

I was just telling someone this. I would be fine if it dropped to 90k or so if the seats were all like the ones in yy.

...It's pretty tall my man. I'm an even 6'0 and I have no problem though. I have no problem with being packed in there because, to me, that adds to the atmosphere. You don't get the Neyland experience at a house party so I will always go with the sardine can experience. Jmo of course.

This 6'5" whale sits comfortably in ZZ under the canopy and in the chairbacks. Would not trade them for 50-yardline seats on the benches. Ain't worth it, IMO.

The facilities are not the best now and won't be the best when the new fac opens in a few weeks. There are programs with much deeper pockets than UT. Such is life.

Add a third deck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely! A 3rd deck with sections between the Jumbotron and the luxury boxes on each side should put us back on top. Then replace the bleachers with chairback seats, like you have at LP Field in Nashville...

...and Neyland stadium would be viewed as a premiere venue, not just for the size.

Dooley would beg to differ with you on that. He stated unequivocally, that there will NOT be a nicer facility in the country. You don't make that kind of statement to the media if you don't believe it. They could correct/embarrass him in a heartbeat if he were wrong.

What other programs are you suggesting that has deeper pockets? UT has spent as much on facilities and stadium upgrades, over the past 10yrs, as anyone. What's more, is that deep pockets doesn't = spending $$$ to upgrade everytime someone else does.

Couldn't tell if that first paragraph was sarcasm or not, but it could have been sarcasm. "Best facilities" can get somewhat subjective, to a point. We probably won't have the "best" facilities, but top 5 probably.

Regarding the 1st paragraph, a lot of coaches say that about their facilities. They would be stupid not to. It's called "coach speak" for a reason.

As far as the stadium goes, I agree that chairbacks are much more comfortable. And you can thank Doug Dickey for making the bleacher seats that narrow. He did that about 20 years ago.

I noticed Don actually addressed the increasing problem of fans staying at home to watch the game on tv instead of going to the live event. The admin at Neyland might want to take notes

it dosnt really matter how many people it seats if we dont sell it out

stop being poor UT fans and come to the games

Are you a UT student? If so, do you predict the student section will be full this year? I know the students are charged for tickets now, but there really should be no excuse for the students not showing up...at least for the big games.
