UT ROLLS OUT CHANGES IN STUDENT, VISITOR SEATING FOR 2006 SEASON :: Improves Sightlines for Tennessee Fans

When the Tennessee football team kicks off the 2006 season Sept. 2 versus California, fans will notice a few changes in seat locations for students, visitors and others around Neyland Stadium.
With the addition of the east side club seats, UTAD needed to move 1,845 student seats and 871 visitor seats from the upper east side (sections AA-FF). UTAD decided this was an opportunity to accomplish a few changes, which have been desired in the past.

UTAD began working in conjunction with Student Government Association and the dean of student affairs office last fall to move student tickets originally in BB-FF (rows 23-35) to sections I (rows 11-52), J (rows 1-34) and BB (rows 20-22).

UTAD also saw this as an opportunity to relocate 1,794 season tickets from sections I and J to comparable seats in sections Y9, Y10 and Z11, which gives them access to the newly-renovated north end zone as well as the ability to see the jumbotron, which many south end zone fans have been asking for.

To allow season ticket holders to sit in sections Y9, Y10, and Z11, UTAD moved 1,869 visitor seats from those sections as well as visitor locations affected by the club seats in AA and BB to the top rows of sections MM through QQ.

That's a tad bit of a screw for us students. Improved sightlines my butt! I'd much rather be in BB-FF rows 23-35, close to the center of the field than in the endzone I and J sections!

Jerks... trying to make that sound like a GOOD move for the students is a joke.

does anybody have any recent pictures from the construction?

Had me worried for a minute until I saw they're moving the visitors to QQ. Now I won't even have to look directly at them. :)

Yeah, I thought the same thing. Doesn't seem better in my opinion.

In fact I went and got my ticket for Cal today. H row 50. How am I supposed to tell what's going on from there!!!

Looks like I'll just have to drink a lot beforehand to make up for it. Can't even see the freakin Jumbo-tron.

Section I is not all that bad as long as you're not down low.

Yeah, getting really drunk will help you see what's going on....Instead of having one bad view, you'll have 2 or 3...:acute:

:p:lolabove: I figure if I can't see what is ACTUALLY going on, I'll get messed up enough to be able to make it up in my head. :)

One good thing they've done over there is put in TV monitors on the overhangs that show what the Jumbotron is showing.

I'm not sure what rows are high enough to see those. We aren't talking new ones are we? The same ones they've always had, right? You have to be way up high under the upper deck to see those.

Last year for the UGA game I sat about halfway down the section; right above the entrance and I could turn around and see the monitors. If you are much below that, you are far enough down into the stadium that you can see the Jumbotron anyway.

Maybe I'm overdramatic. :) I like sitting in D-F... or CC-EE. I guess sitting next to the band isn't as bad as I make it out to be. :good!:

As long as it's not down low, it's actually a pretty good vantage point. You see a lot of things from that angle that you can't see sitting in the middle of the field.

One of the funniest things I've ever seen in the stands was a few years ago when I took a friend of mine to a the UGA game. (He's a Dawg fan). They closed to within 7 of us in the 2nd half and as they kicked off to us with the ball literally in the air I hear him say "Ohhhhhhhhh shhhh#$!$$!@!$!@$!" He could see the coverage melting down as they were running down the field right at us and 100 yards later, Leonard Scott proved him right. :p

Leonard Scott? That was more than a mere "few" years ago. :p

OK, it was "several" years ago. (1999 I think). Now that I think about it, I'm not sure if it was Leonard Scott.

It's hard getting older, isn't it? I remember the days when 7 years didn't seem like a "few." Now, it seems like yesterday!

When do we start getting free coffee at McDonald's?

This is the first year I am in row 2 in section BB, anyone know how these seats are ??

Excellent! I'm right across the stadium from you, one section toward the 50 (UU). Here's a rough idea of your view (from UTSports.com):

It probably was '99.

I got here in '01 and we had that game lost, then a miracle run for a TD with like a min thirty left to take the lead, and then allowed Greene to drive back down the field and put the knife in. Horrid game.
