Neyland Lenient Seating Policy

There is no reason why people can't move to seats that aren't being used if they'd like. I have no problem with it. In fact, I often move up to the South or East upper deck to empty seats, if I don't like mine. I've also moved to the West side lower deck when there have been bare spots in the past.

Who cares?

FWIW, the guy who stands around the 13th row on the south side of section F doesn't take crap from anyone. Everyone who goes past him has to show the ticket or they aren't getting down there. He takes his job WAY too seriously.

You should get his name. That crap is stupid when it's the 2nd quarter or beyond. He's hurting the festive atmosphere.

I did it yesterday. At halftime I received a text from relatives who were sitting in the upper section in the shade & they said there were empty seats around them. So, we went & sat with our relatives & had a great time!!

A guy near me was ejected for not having his ticket when they asked at the last game. Someone "reported him" to the police.

The issue is empty seats. If we start selling out consistently again this won't be an issue.

I don't see where it is an issue. I have moved at several baseball games to those high dollar season ticket seats behind home plate that are often unused. At yesterday's game there were 2 empty seats beside me (they live in Atlanta) and I took advantage of the expanded butt room with no guilt feelings at all.

Just pony up on the donation to the university and get mid field seats- most of those people show up to all the games- never empty seats around!

I sit in the end zone facing the jumbotron on row 3. You better believe that when the people with the chair backs don't show up that I'm moving down.

We were much more comfortable in the chairbacks yesterday and at the UAB game than the bleachers.

I wanted to get Vol Nations take on this. This year I've noticed the ushers have never asked to see our tickets. I set in the north enzone and it's usually packed with the usual season ticket holders. However, I've noticed a lot this year, mostly with fans from other teams, being able to freely walk over and sit in open seats that they don't have a ticket for.

My question to you all is, does this bother you? Would you want the ushers to be more strict, and make people start showing tickets and forcing them to sit in the seats they have tickets for?

I donate to the school, pay for the tickets, and opposing fans come down to our area and freely sit in the open seats that they did not purchase.

It kinda bothers me, I wanted to get your thoughts and see if maybe there is a reason my the ushers are not more scrict on making people show their tickets, because I'm seriously thinking about emailing the school.

Your thoughts?

Start filling the seats with Vol fans again and this is no longer a problem.

I have moved to empty seats in the second half. My season tickets are just fine, but I don't like to have to listen to the grumpy azz old man at the end of the row when we decide to go out at halftime. I have never seen someone with an aisle seat complain so much. My wife is 7 months pregnant. We literally went out one minute before halftime yesterday which was a long wait for a pregnant lady. When we came back up the steps, I heard him turn around and complain to the guy behind him that "this is the only problem with these seats". He was so inconvenienced he had to stand up. So, I turned and loudly told my wife, there are some empty seats up the row, let's just go sit there. I will move next year.

between some of our fans asking you to sit down when you're standing up, and this guy wanting the ticket nazis to be in full force, i think our own fan base is trying to turn a game at UT into one of the lamest places to see football in the south.

who cares if they're not sitting in their own seat?

if you have the ticket for which someone is sitting in, ask them to move. if not, get over it.

it's a football game. good grief.

let's try and let our people have some fun mmmkay?

Making the donations assures you of your own seats. What happens with the other seats should not be your concern. Those are someone else's donations or, more likely, season tickets that were not sold. There have been a lot of those north endzone seats up for individual sale this year. Which brings up my next question. Did you check their tickets to be sure they did not have those seats?

During the Buzz Peterson years, the PA guy would make an announcement during the first half for people in the upper deck to come down to the lower deck to fill empty seats at TBA. I doubt the university is going to care about people doing this at a football game.

As for my opinion, I'm usually watching the game and not paying attention to what everyone around me is doing. I suggest you try it.

I personally would not. I buy a ticket for a seat. I would go and sit in that seat.

Well hooray for you captain. I've done this for years, and ill continue to. (@ Neyland, GaDome, TB, Mem, Turner Field, Legion, ect) I think once or twice the person has showed up, and ill gladly move for them if and when they do. Until then, my butt is in this here empty seat.

a similar situation happend in Nashville a few years ago. The Vols bb team was playing Ok St at the then Gaylord Arena. Many people bought upper section tickets but when we got there, they presented us with new tickets on the lower bowl.

I have season seats In section G row 55 yesterday when half the student didn't show up I moved down to about row 30 in the sun. I have no problem with it. If for some reason I cant make it to the game I have no problem with anyone moving to my seat as long as they cheer like hell.:)

Funny how people used to complain that the ushers where too strict in TB arena and they could not move around and now we are discussing this.

I can understand how this could upset you. I've been taking my kid brother to the games for the past 5 years, not all but most of the home games, were there. Its about all i can do to to get us into the stadium. IE Im not rich and have bills. We are guilty of this. We have never left a game early, but when others do, we try to grab the best seats possible. He is a true vol at heart. As am I... So my question is... If it doesn't hurt anyone or prevent them from what is rightfully theirs, whats wrong with it?

There is good and bad in all groups, we are lucky to have so few of these people in vol country. CONGRATULATIONS to you and your wife
