Neyland I (Formerly known as Gruden Thread)

Wasn’t Pigs “issue” drug related? I don’t remember.

I’m a big believer in personal responsibility. Owning your crap. Coming to the realization you stepped in it and making amends with the people your decision affected. In JJ’s scenario, it was his teams mates he let down. Rumor is he didn’t go to class, team meetings, disrespected the staff and then just showed up like an entitled brat expecting to play. Coaches actually showed a backbone and said no. Then came his insta-fit. All of that being said, if no crimes were committed and his teammates are willing to forgive him and if he’s even academically eligible, I think there’s an ample amount of stairs in Neyland that would warrant a visit everyday this off season from JJ should CJP give him
a chance.

Lets face it...Butch let down the players, fans, and really the whole state of TN. He did not coach or mentor the players.
He lied to them and mistreated them...showed them no respect....

It is the job of the coach to teach them about the game....
but also to get them ready for life.

I’m many many days over 34. I’ve been practicing law more than a decade if that tells you anything.

Reaching out to a bunch of recruits. He coached against us last year and knew we were weak in both O and D lines. Looks like he's trying to build those areas with recruiting.

That has been a real concern for me... and do not understand as we recruited so good linemen in the past .... hope he can develop them

Congrats to you, brother. That picture was from Oct. 23, 2015. He was still at the hospital (Parkwest), but we were released later that evening to take him home. I just couldn't resist sharing him with you fine people, and him in his first UT outfit. He's already saying, "Go Vols!" My wife and I are very proud parents and couldn't be more blessed.

Hey Squints, we got another VFL member in the household too. Congrats brother! Mines 5 days old

Congrats to both of you .

I watched the press conference last night when I got home. Pruitt is a likeable guy who said all of the right things. After watching Jones at his hiring press conference and liking him at the time, I bought in and we all see how that turned out. Now, I'm not comparing Pruitt to Jones, I'm just saying that I won't jump on board so quickly this time around.

In all fairness, though, I am willing to put my break from the Vols on hold to see how things go between now and the final signing day. I want to see the complete staff he assembles and just how well he can salvage this recruiting class. Now, I don't expect him to be able to get us back into the top 5 or perform any other miracles. I would be very impressed if he could get us somewhere into the top 15 or 20 range.

While I am very disappointed in how things have gone, I have come to realize that completely turning in my Big Orange card didn’t turn out to be as easily done as I thought it would be. Anyway, here's to hoping Pruitt turns out to be everything we have hoped for and more.

GBO!

Hope it works out better for you than that lawnmower blade to the head did.

Watched part of the presser last night... seems likeable enough, but so did Jones. He said all the things you're supposed to say. "This is going to be our state" "We want to be aggressive" blahblahblah. I mean I wasn't expecting him to say "Eh, we'll let Memphis and Vandy have our state, and we'll sit back and hope to win some games"

Still not happy but, whatever, doesn't mean anything now. Have Atlanta or anyone else supposedly on the inside posted anything?

I really didn’t think I’d get over gruden so quickly but Pruitt is really impressing me so far.

AV posted in another thread and seems pretty happy with the direction, particularly the staff hires. I determined to wait and see what assistants are brought in before making judgement and I like the direction it's going. It's going to be a much better staff than Butch's so called BSiA.

Impressive. The juco guys tell me he is looking to win sooner rather than later. Has already defined some weak spots and is trying to address it.

I don't care about his thoughts on the hire, I want the story of why Gruden isn't our coach :\
