Love my fellow OG's and what was this thread. I despise what my beloved football program has become.

The odds are that Pruitt will fail - hell the odds of any coach succeeding aren't that great. I could have supported Tee Martin 100% because at least we gave him a shot and he won a Naty for the Vols in 1998.

My apathy has now gotten the better of me; I will not give my blind support and loyalty to this bamar coordinator neither will I invest my emotions or finances. We deserve better! I will have to see it to believe it on this hire and I will be critical of the new coach when deserved.

I seem to look at it from a different view point than most I think . Traditional powerhouse football universities with long great traditions and expectations of winning need hero’s , legends and great people we can look back on or up to as our gold standard that we expect from our athletes and coaches . I said that to say this ... I don’t want Tee here , I never ever want Peyton or Jason Witten , Bill Bates , Al Wilson or anyone we hold to such high standards . I feel like all could help , they may even turn out to be the best coaches we ever had but what if they failed ? We all know we would eat them alive , we would spare nobody regardless of who they are or what they did for our University and we would never look at them the same again . The way I see it is if Pruitt fails then meh he was a bammer what did we expect , if he succeeds ( I hope he does beyond our wildest dreams ) then I can forgive him for playing football at Alabama and we stole a good one from Saban . IMHO

I've learned to trust my wife's intuition. There have been times I denied what she saw in certain circumstances that ended up being spot on. When it comes to reading the dynamics of a relationship, I concede to the opinion of the ladies.
