Pretty close to ain't, ain't it. chit

I'm bummed, stuck here in Phx I know not one other Vol fan and hearing all you folks talking of God's country has got me homesick like a big dog. I even tried to find the alum group here but it looked like their website died yrs ago.

I'm not an alum just a crazy azz good ole boy that's loved UT football all his life and taken pride in being Southern. I'm not one of the cool kids and have always been a fringe dweller, just my ticket I guess, but Gruden threads, believe it or not, made me a better person, as crazy as that may seem.

I was drinking too much first I first came aboard and acted like a butt too often. Then I started to get invested in the camaraderie and the common theme of wanting to return excellence to UT football. I decided to quit drinking and attempt to contribute. Had no real info to add but I loved the genuineness of everyone, outside the wuckfit trolls.

Once it's officially 'aint' I probably just pop in, now and again, to see how everyone is doing and say Hi but I wanted all the regulars to know you've help me get through a major life transition and I thank you for that.

Not looking for sympathy or that kind of thing, not my style, just wanted to be real.

And, I'm a loyal/stubborn guy so Gruden till it ain't and it ain't ain't, yet.

G'night y'all.

I got a hug for you, too!

So the question still lingers...what happened?

I'm smart enough to know we may never find the truth.

Maybe AV can shed some light.

****gonna be long post****

Thanks OP, I hope to see all the regulars come over and stay active here. I read a lot more than I posted because I was always so far behind, but I'm not the lazy type who asked what happened while I was away.

What many of the trolls fail to understand about us is we are like a small tight-knit family who lean on one another when we are down and rejoice when we are up. It is sad and downright pitiful that people have to take the time to come to a thread to ridicule, taunt, and bash fellow Vol fans who have a different opinion/belief than them.

These trolls weren't here when Charlie was in a terrible place mourning the loss of his wife and need our love, prayers, and support. Nor were they here when Preacher's mother passed away and another poster's grandmother passed, or all of the other trials we as humans face daily. The fact that we all felt compelled to share these events with one another shows how close we are even though we have never met and probably never will.

Contrary to the beliefs of these trolls the Gruden threads weren't solely based on Gruden being our next coach as much as it was the friendship, fellowship, and camaraderie we had with one another. We could escape from whatever hardships we were dealing with or bring those hardships here knowing there were many who could offer a shoulder, ear, or advice.

I'm very proud of all of you for sticking together and I hope this thread lives on for a long time because I enjoyed reading about your lives and your opinions. Thank you all for bringing some light to a period of VOL football darkness.

To the trolls, yes, you were right we didn't get our whale but the need you have for gloating makes you much sadder of a person than us so GTFO

Grudenites still conversing under the veil of a new thread name. Now we all know what it feels like to be a scarrabean at UT. Lol

It was fun. I'll go back to lurking. Hope to make it to a Scots game and support Boro's son next fall.

A family inside the confines of the inter webs we call Vol Nation.

I don’t know if the trolls will ever get that this wasn’t always about Gruden or that we built a family within the Gruden threads. Hell, I really don’t care if they do. All I know is I’ve enjoyed this( for the most part) and I wish everyone one of you nothing but the best and I hope one day we’ll get together and celebrate a Championship in here!

Welp, I am here as usual at 5:00am and talking to myself...........

Nah, I'm here.

Hope still lives.

Loved the trip, not so much the destination.

You guys are the best but the Gruden thread seems to have turned into a D!ck Parade with all the people with obvious inadequacies trying to feel big by gloating. People can be such douches, dumping on fellow fans whose only crime was to hope for the best for Volunteer Football and the University.

Go Big Orange!

Go Big Orange!

Pruitt has coached on 3 National Championship teams and is one hell of a recruiter. I am willing to see how it plays out.

It will play out, us being willing will have not much to do with it.

My attitude has become that of a casual observer. Meaning, not buying any UT sch!t until a competitive product is displayed on the field. My hope is that the piss poor attitude that I'm feeling now is very short lived.

Still:

Go Big Orange!

I just wanted to thank everyone for contributing to this wild ride. I chose to believe the Grumors because it was fun to do so. Nothing will compare to the ups/downs twists and turns of this years coaching search. With all of the negative aspects of this coaching search it was fun to have a dream and the Gruden threads provided that.

Now, there is a new dream. I don't know a ton about Pruitt and if he will bring UT back to prominence. However, I was in the Pride of the Southland in 97' and 98', and if he can even bring back a fraction of the excitement we had in that era, I would be thrilled. It's now fun to dream that he can and that he will.

I will always remember and treasure the time that UT fans had enough and demanded change. Not only did they demand it, but they got it. I think that the people of Volnation should be proud and realize that they were a part in changing the program for the better.

Years from now, I think Volnation will look back at these dark days of UT football history, but they will reminisce about the end of the 2017 season with one positive memory. I hope they can look back with a smile on their face and say "REMEMBER THE SCHIANAMO" .

Former Pride member? Nice. Me, too.

Yeah, I just got really lucky in the time I was there. In seasons like this, I feel bad for the band. They work hard, but just like the team, they also don't get to go to a bowl game.

I love the band and find it such a great part of tradition at UT. Underappreciated in my opinion.
