The university has given away teams too many of those south upper deck seats. When they don’t show it’s the only part of the stadium noticeably empty

Thats the damn truth... Some of the concession areas were not even open... and a lot were not selling beer... or thats how it was in the upper deck regions. I did not check out the lower areas .

I’m starting to get this feeling also, which is not good.. I enjoy jus getting away from Memphis that’s not the only thing I enjoy I love our fans and enjoy the history and traditions that is Tennessee but it’s never fun to be a loser and I dunno it’s Monday morning…. Sun came out today I’m alive family is doing ok but Tennessee Vols.. I love em.. but damn

Unsold visiting team tickets are returned to UT and put up for sale to the general public. The issue is pricing, most sections were $65 - $95 for that game. That's too much at this point.

People will treat that idea like it's blasphemy, but that's the trend. The fact is, the capacity arms race that we were in with Michigan and others occurred before all the games were even televised and most people were watching on 19-36 inch screens. Now every game is televised in high definition and big screens are everywhere. I love being in the stadium, but I totally get folks who just don't want to deal with everything that goes along with it.

Also the fact with most services you can now record any game and start watching a couple of hours after the game starts, so you can fast-forward through commercials/halftime and watch a whole game in less than 2 hours. You can also pause/rewind and re-watch any play and it's so easy and convenient now.

Eventually, people will understand the love for Tennessee Volunteer football is just different. It isnt love because of the win/loss record, or bragging rights to your buddies, or famous ex-players, or being the pet of the media.

It is literally LOVE for Tennessee football, and it will never go away.

TVs do play a role but the main reason attendance is down because the team has sucked for over a decade. 3 average-decent seasons since 2007. Its finally sinking in and fans aren't excited about average football. Just look at TBA this fall when basketball starts. Our fanbase is starving for a winner.

Not against that at all. 90ish k would be perfect. The massive stadium craze from the 90’s has come to a stop. With the social media streaming, streaming services period and the broadcast that they provide now has made staying at home watching easier.

The AD doesn’t have a choice when the games are played, that’s the sec office and the networks. The exception may be the Thursday games.

There's no doubt that has had an effect and really I can't prove that the convenience of TV plays a role since (warning . . . depressing statement to follow) . . . we haven't actually been able to sustain any sort of success since the TV phenomenon even occurred.

I somewhat agree. We made good noise but I would have liked to see more grit from our fans. Hard to blame them though was hard to stomach at times

This. If Tennessee can get its crap together and get to that 9-10 win a year average - you know, like the good programs do - the only games that'll be less than capacity will be directional scrimmages. Oh how I wish I could read a thread about complacent Tennessee fans. I do miss those.

Take out the South upper deck. It's a POS anyway. That someone hasn't died falling down those dangerous steps is a miracle

No lie . . . I sat up there about 15 years ago and swore that I'd never go back. It's insane how steep it is.

I agree with you. However the UTAD and university have pretty much worn a significant part of their fan base down with the mediocre product placed on the field over a period of years. It's like a great product that GM used to put on the roads of America, until they cheapened it and started asking their best customers to pay top dollar for a trash product. Eventually their best customers can't take it any longer and they move on to better products for the same money. GM eventually went bankrupt. They're back in business but at a much reduced level of market support than they once had. Seeing that many empty seats at Neyland and the bad football UT's best fans watched this past Saturday pretty much demonstrates the writing is on the wall. They need to get this turned around asap and pay attention to their customer/fan base that requires a better product.
