I know its obviously extremely early, but assuming all of our signees stick with us, who can we expect to be our starters? Who do we have coming back? Which freshman will be impact players? Thank you in advance

Made it to 30th in the NCBWA poll in 2008. Havent been there since. 11th in 2007 preseason. Wouldn't be terribly surprised to be in the top 25 at some point this upcoming season.

C - Bennett
1B - Morgan?
RF - Ramsey/Steckenrider/new guy
LF - Fritts
3B- ?
DH- ?
SS/2B - Wormsley?/ Peirce?


SP - Blount (Serrano will make this kid a stud IMHO, The stuff is too good)
SP - ? (Romano/ Zajac/ Dean?/ Godley?/ Reed) Anyone got details on the statuses of the Dean and Godley?

CL - Ramsey

Pitching is where we are going to hurt. But with a guy like Serrano, you never know who may all of the sudden emerge as a top arm. Theres no guaranteed spot among these guys, other than Ramsey as our closer if hes healthy. However, I do feel good about Toles, Bennett, and Betts if Betts doesn't sign at the positions listed above.

Bennett at catcher may be a problem. Serrano is a defense first kind of guy and let's face it, although Bennett is waiting to become an offensive powerhouse, I don't think he will ever be a good defensive or game calling catcher.

I think we will see a surprise (don't ask me who) behind the plate and Bennett elsewhere. DH perhaps.

I think Osborne will fit extraordinarily well into Serrano's system. Could he have a break out final year (ala Chris Burke/Steve Daniels)

You want details on Godley, I am Godley's mom and he is waiting on a call from the coach. He is going to second session of summer school, 2 classes from SMC didn't transfer. He has been working out here at home and will be back in Knoxville on July 5th. I will tell you what I know. Just ask and if I know the answer I will tell you!

I gotta tell you, it's bothered me that your boy hadn't been contacted yet. After listening to the radio today, it sounds like they are really trying to find some recruits and are behind the 8 ball. In fact Coach Mosielio(sp?) stated that in a perfect world he'd like to fly around watch them play, make sure the players are on board. I guess had CDS kept one guy from the former staff, maybe getting in contact would've been easier. Listening to him, made me feel a lil better, just thought I'd pass it on.

It's kinda hard to argue against ya, seems pretty easy. So easy, I keep looking for ways to justify not calling, lol. Everybody on the staff is moving over from the west coast, how's that?

Maybe this is crazy and I may have the wrong idea, but I was under the impression Godley was not on the team at the end of the year. Most of the phones I use can make as well as receive calls. I know how bad Raleigh was, but its my impression that not as many people understand it as you would think. If Raleigh had been fired while I still had eligibility, I would have been at Serrano's press conference, I would have been in his office, jumping up and down, hugging him and telling him how excited I was to have him as my coach. I would have not left it up to him to determine why I quit. He would have gotten the story first hand.

In my opinion, all these players that may have quit under Raleigh, and still want to play, need to call Serrano. It seems silly to just sit around and wait.

And again, I apologize if I have the wrong idea there. I gave up following the team prior to this past season but I was told Dean and Godley weren't in the dugout for the end of the season. I made the assumption that they quit.

Godley was in the dugout at the end of the season. Dean, Peper, and Ramsey were not.

Aha. My fault. Do we know reasoning for their absence? Did they quit? And do you know their status for next season?

I still feel the same about calling Coach Serrano for Godley. Or even better, since hes on campus today, he needs to stop by the baseball office and talk to somebody.

I apologize. I'm playing catch up.

How do you think Carter Watson will fit in, spot relief?

I thought Ramsey was out with an injury.
