Playing games in the Georgia Dome aka UT's House of Horrors worries me.

Do we finally make it back to the title game?

Sorry, I've not been on today so not sure if it's been stated.

I know we were either playing LSU or USC first round, right ? Is it settled yet ?

Yeap. We lost to South Carolina first game 2 years ago and LSU last year in our first game.

Kind of ironic...one of those teams we will be playing in our first round.

Yeah that would be a big fat zero. Man we can't win a tourney game. I thought we won a game in 2006 i was wrong.

Seems a good thread in which to drop this quote from South Carolina's Dave Odom, regarding Bruce and the SEC tournament...
South Carolina’s Dave Odom said Tennessee, a top seed in 1999 and 2000, is competing with the past.

In 2006, South Carolina was a decent team that went into a bad stretch after we opened up SEC play by winning at their house. They ended up winning the NIT. And, it's hard to beat a team 3 times, which is what we were trying to do that day. They ended up beating UK and then losing to UF by just 2 in the final.
As for last year, LSU has just plain been a bad matchup for us the past few years because of their length. Last year, they had Final Four talent but underachieved their way into a first-round game with us. So, losing the last 2 years wasn't that bad, given the opposition and circumstances.
This year, no excuses. We have the best team. We need to overcome history by winning the first game. Then, we either get an Arkansas team that will try to run with us or a Vandy team playing its third game in as many days, and the game won't be in Memorial Gym. The final-probably against MSU or UK, will be very tough. MSU poses matchup issues inside. UK would slow us down, and we'd be playing under a big blue mist.
I think we can win it all though.

Who would you least like to see in the finals, UKVols? It's hard not to give KY props for their turnaround and Varnado and Ms State are pretty daunting.
I think I would rather see if MSU in the final between the two - if we get there.

I would rather see MSU.

UT-UK would be one of the best atmospheres in the tourney's history, and nothing this weekend would help our program continue to step forward more than beating UK.

But, we haven't won in 29 years, so I want the best chance at winning. I think we're better than UK, and I think UK would be totally gassed after playing in a tight game with huge bubble implications that could last past midnight on Friday and then playing in a classic and physical semifinal vs. MSU.

But, I'd rather take my chances against the team whose fans won't fill up the Dome. Also, when a team eliminates UK from a tournament (credit to UK here), that team usually loses in the next round. In other words, beating UK and the big blue mist on Saturday would take A LOT out of MSU.

I also do not feel like it's bush league here for the fans of the odds-on favorite (us) to want the easiest path possible. We have the most history to overcome among the contenders. Even though we have the best team, I feel like we're still the underdog. I think it's important for our players to not lose that underdog/history-maker mentality.

I badly want us to win this tournament. We've bowed out early when we've had crappy teams; we've bowed out early when we've had decent teams. We bowed out early last year when I though we had a legitimate chance to win the thing. Some of my ACC-obsessed friends keep telling me not to worry about it, that the conference tourneys don't mean anything, but I don't care. We've been sucking in this thing my whole life, and I'm sick of it.
