Looking at the schedule for next season, I am pleasantly surprised. By my take it looks as if we have a strong possibility of going 9-3 or better. If intensity stays high, as I believe it will, I'd venture to guess the 3 toss-ups(UF, UGA, and Alabama) could easily go my way.
There are two games that particularly stand out in my eyes. Florida, because of all the hype, and Bama, because it's back to the third Saturday in October, where it is supposed to be. I believe both of these games will simply come down to who wants it more, because our talent can match up with theirs any day. Not to mention, a rivalry game doesn't always go the way of the stats.
This being said, given one win out of those three losses, there's no reason we shouldn't be in contention for the SEC and for a BCS bowl game. Personally I think Kiffin is set up for success, and I only hope he can pull it off.
My biggest worry is the quarterback situation, and it is this that will make or break our season. Hopefully Crompton has learned that he doesn't need to show he has a cannon on every pass, that touch is just as important as distance. There's never been a TD on a pass thrown 7 yards in front of the receiver (excluding a pick 6). If he gets his head in the game, he's our man. I like Stephens, but he couldn't pull it out in the clutch last season. I personally don't know enough about Coleman to make a judgement.
Basically, we have the potential to have a monumental season, and I couldn't be more optimistic.

You are correct that you could not be more optimistic. Wow. I don't quite share your assessment that Tennessee's talent level matches up with UF. I only see 7 games on the schedule that we should win with USC, Alabama, OM, and UGA as games we have a decent chance at. I can't see us beating Florida but you never know.

10-3 record would have me ecstatic. I'd settle for 8 or 9 wins.

UF and UA will be losses for us. Hopefully we can play them close though - which would essentially be a victory for us anyways with how CUM and CNS will want to slaughter us.

UCLA, Ole Miss, AU, USCjr and UGA will all be tossups. I think winning 4/5 of these is entirely possible but 3/5 is more likely. Ole Miss probably has more talent (offensively at least). The other 4 teams have serious question marks similar to our own. The results of these games will be very indicative of how CLK is performing.

WKU, Vandy, UK, Ohio, & Memph are all must wins...

This all comes out to either 8-4 or 9-3. Either way its a definite improvement!!!

I think we win the BAMA game. Last year would have been completely different if we could have displayed ANY offense. BAMA loses key parts of their OL, Coffee, JPW and their best DB. They will be breaking in a new QB and I like our chances in that game. Ole Miss will be tough but our D can hold their O in check. Their strength last year was their DL and they lost some quality talent. I also like our chances in this game. I would feel better if both weren't on the road but IMO, we win at least 1 of the 2.

The only game that I'm confident we lose is against UF and I still maintain hope that we can pull some kind of upset.

Its my look at the new staff and what we have at this time. Just my opinion, I may be dead wrong, but I hope not

i like that your glass is half full, but i don't personally share the same level of enthusiasm. i agree with most of what you said, to a degree. i think we've got starting talent to hold our own against anyone in the SEC. however, i don't think our depth matches bammer's or florida's. that being said, the florida game is early on and the tn team will be jacked for that game. i don't see us winning (or really even being a threat to win with 2 minutes to go), but i wouldn't really be all that surprised if we came out guns blazing and pulled off the huge upset (i know.. that's a bit contrdictory, but what can i say?). furthermore, i think the toughest games on the schedule are florida and ole miss. i actually think we can beat bammer next year because they're in a lot of trouble on offense with big losses at key positions. it all depends on the coaching. i say we go 10-3 with a win in the cotton/chick-fil-a/outback bowl (losses to the gators, rebs, and some random team or bammer).

ps-i think crompton gets the nod at qb and coleman backs him up. i think stephens is donezo.

Guys, we may be expecting to much this year. Do you remember myers first year @ swampville. He was 5-6 his first year and it was 3 years before he turned it around. Satan was 6-6 his first year. It takes time for a new coaching staff. The players have to learn a comlete new system. [Remember dave clausen] Relax and give them time and we will have a first class team!

I think that the Volunteers could put up a nice defensive effort against the Gators, but still come away with a loss. I'm pretty confident that they could beat Alabama and that would be the win that we'd cherish for the season. I like Nick Stephens as the starter next season, he knows how to air out down field but sometimes doesn't know when to make the right decisions when the pressure is getting to him.
