Serious question: Have you guys thought about Charlie Strong? Just curious. Surprised I haven't seen or heard his name mentioned much. I'm not saying he'd be the best choice for you--not a flashy hire--but he'd probably be better than a coordinator with no HC experience. He seems to have rebounded with USF and was good at Louisville.

USF (AAC), Louisville (at that time Big Least)... only stint in a Power 5 conference was at Texas... he was horrible there... so, no not head coach at UT .... please.

No! I like him but he didn't do as well as we expected at Texas and as a result they fired him after 3 seasons.

Chris Low still doesn’t get it. His comment that the fans just want us us to hire somebody infers that we just want anyone we can get. He’s clueless if he thinks that.

However, he probably thinks that is what Fulmer thinks we want--no, we want the best coach and staff available & sadly it isn't the UT guys and Fulmer's former players that he can manipulate. Which of them would say no to Fulmer or stand up to him--none?

Oh its been mentioned plenty. I think its pretty insulting that people are trying to use some bs NFL combine test to question Tee's intelligence. He is a college graduate who learned NFL playbooks and has ran college passing games for years. Why are we not trying to dig up stuff like this on other coaches? Why is he the only coach who is having his intelligence questioned?

Like I said, it is a touchy subject, and I understand your point completely. I definitely do not mean anything personal against Tee, and really hope I’m not coming across as saying that he’s not an intelligent guy. I’m just being honest and saying that it’s one of those things that is always somewhat in the back of my mind when thinking about Tee as head coach, at least at this point in his career and coming into this crazy situation right now at UT. Maybe that’s not fair on my part for even thinking about it, but I’m just being honest that it does concern me a little.

So I never got a straight answer by watching f bomb yesterday but what was Hugh freeze punishment? Like a two game suspension? Could this be a possibility or a Big no due to all the morality crap with shiano

Been told right now that the targets are.....

1. Charlie Strong
2. Les Miles
3. David Shaw
4. Kevin Steele
5. Jeff Brohm

Tee Martin would be a fallback

Of that list, only #5 I would be happy with but my preference would still be Leach 1st choice or second choice Kiffin.

You know I'm sitting watching Florida Atl and Lane Kiffin's offense playing for the C-USA championship. Watching his offense and play calling is like poetry in motion. His designed play is so pretty to watch. It definitely has his signature on those plays. Whether you hate or love him this man is probably one of the best, if not the best, offensive head coach anywhere. This list has no one on it that can be on the same level of Lane Kiffin. And the sad part is Fulmer and UT will not drop their pride to even talk to him. Do not worry about Lane because we may see him again on Florida State, Arkansas or Auburn sidelines as head coach. TN will be watching him playing for National Championships while we will be playing for a Peach Bowl if we even get that far. In the first 19 minutes of the game, Lane had 348 yards rushing and passing and a 20-0 score. But I know this means nothing to UT and their program. They rather hire Tee Martin or some other ragtime coach which tells me Fulmer isn't really serious about being competitive. Remember, we may have to face him somewhere down the road. That will include facing Saban, Smart, Mullen and Jimbo Fisher. No one on that list, all good coaches, but not great splashes, would beat Jimbo Fisher, Mullen, Saban or Smart on any regular bases. Will TN ever win the East? It would be a long, long, long, long time.

Fulmer told everyone at the press conference who he plans on hiring....just go back and listen to his "requirements" and "bringing the fan base back together." If you apply the words that came out of Fulmer's mouth to the coaching search....it is crystal clear....Kevin Steele will be the next head coach.

Again, go back and listen to what Fulmer said.

Kevin Steele with a 9-36 record as a head coach? When he has Kiffin, Miles and Leach that would come here today!

If he gets Steele and Currie had Leach then something is just not right. Steele is much much farther down the list than Leach.
