if its not lance thompson he'll be out of here soon too. good coach, good recruiter. and maybe a good in-house guy for HC if dooley is fired in the next year year or so. i'm starting to question my loyalty to CDD, why are all these coaches running away from UT for the same position at other schools...with less prestige and worse facilities?

Does anyone really think Lance Thompson being promoted to defensive coordinator is going to satisfy the fan base? Sorry, the guy is a proven assistant coach but is the football program the forum he needs to be a 1st year coordinator? He can go to Mississippi Valley State or Delta State if he wants to be a first year DC.

He has DC experience, has been highly loyal to the program, and has worked under some of the best defensive minds in the game. We could do a whole lot worse.

Expect Dooley to take a run at Steele, Smart, Bumpas, Diaz.

LT has a legit shot at being named DC.

Also, Dooley will look to fill one position with an "elite" recruiter.

If he is made DC here, I just want him to satisfy the recruits first. Then I would really prefer he shows results and makes the fan base happy.

I stand corrected...I see Thompson's stint as DC for Central Florida...I still don't think it's a good idea after a bad season and some of the stuff that has gone on we need a HR with a DC hire like this...something that will rejuvenate the fan base because it's dwindling as it is! Lance Thompson as DC would not do it!

I wouldn't think so. Interesting that they are having one though... I would also add Randy Shannon to the list....From what I have heard from other sites, he is a candidate that will be considered. He was almost hired by Arkansas but that deal fell through at the last minute.

BS. The only way he'd return is for the HC position... why leave his plush DC with the possible national champion team to slum with us? Not plausible as DD has a presser tomorrow so the timing is all off.

Why would Chavis leave LSU with all of that talent that he has. I always dreaded his prevent defense when we had a small lead at the end of games. He can get away with it with LSU talent. Also, he lets it be known that he doesn't like recruiting. We can do better.
