We’ve all had some time to digest what happened last night. I’m sure everyone is still in a pretty bad mood and no one cares, but I’ll give my thoughts on where we are and where I think we should go from here anyway. First of all, I think we looked significantly better. In the end we choked and lost a game we shouldn’t have, but we looked better. Hopefully we’ll take another step forward this week. I think we need to pick our starting five offensive linemen. We’ve had two games to see who our best five are. We have one more winnable game before we start SEC play. I think we should pick the five linemen who have played the best and give them a game to settle in and start to build chemistry. I also think we should play both Shrout and Maurer. Shrout has already used his redshirt and Maurer can play in as many as four games. I think we should start whichever of the two our coaches feel best about. Give them a short leash, and pull them if they’re not ready. If you pull the starter, put the other in and give him the same short leash. If neither appear ready or capable of playing better than Guarantano, you can put him in and should still be able to win the game. Lastly, I think we should look at all of our options when it comes to defensive playcalling and preparation. I don’t know just how involved Pruitt is with what units in practice. I don’t know exactly involved he is in playcalling, but he called the defense last season and turned it over to Ansley this season. They had a couple bad possessions, but they weren’t terrible. They still made plenty of mistakes. The fact that they have so much trouble simply lining up makes me think we should reevaluate some things. It’s possible Ansley wasn’t ready for the position or at least needs help with certain aspects of it. Things have been ugly, but this is my team until they put me in the ground. I’m not going anywhere. Here’s to things getting better. Go big orange!

Can’t say I disagree with any of your points.

"""...We looked significantly better"""" is not saying much! "We have one more winnable game before SEC play""", is this what the program is coming to? We have fans happy that we may be able to beat Chattanooga??? You've come to the conclusion that, "....makes me think we should reevaluate some things""", I am glad to see you noticed Some Things may need changing...…. UT is an SEC team, the hoping we can do something to beat Chattanooga, is okay, but I don't see in your plan, how are we going to beat SEC teams?????? Maybe if we pick five offensive linemen we'll win out???

I know more than a few changes need made, but I obviously don’t have all the answers. And if being a good team isn’t an option, yes, I’ll talk about what we can do to not be as bad. I’d rather talk with real fans about what we can do better than waste my Sunday whining on a message board. You obviously have the answer to every single problem facing this team. Please enlighten us.

Another real fan alert. If y'all think you know so damn well then why isn't the answer just magically appearing in your discussions too?

JG is terrible....it's much worse live in the stadium than watching on TV.

JG made some good throws in the game, but ALL OF HIS mistakes NEGATE everything positive (which ain't much) that he does.
To put it bluntly--JG left at least 8 points out there on the field for us while giving BYU the ball inside our 20 and giving them 7 points.

He can't see the field, he throws way too late even when his primary is open, and he misses WIDE OPEN receivers all over the field.
JJ was open ALL NIGHT LONG....and JG just didn't throw to him. JG cost us a TD at the end of the 1st half and there's no doubt about it!
He also had JJ open on 2nd and 3rd down in the 2nd OT period for a TD and threw to the TE once and to the RB on 3rd down.
HE ain't the guy. If you want to defend him at all---then just call yourself stupid.

And even that 1st TD pass was NOTHING BUT DUMB LUCK....
JG was trying to force the ball in the back of the EZ to the TE (4), but got lucky to have it deflected to JJ.

Chaney called a TERRIBLE 2ND HALF.....flat out TERRIBLE.
We scored 3 points in the entire 2nd half...

Chandler and Gray run their butts off.....excellent performance from those two...

Defense didn't play flawless, but played with effort and energy in regulation except for 1 play.

Taylor's performance on that play actually DEFIES ALL rational football thought!
It's INEXCUSABLE.

His walking up to within 3 yards of the LOS with 24 seconds, no TOs, and BYU needing 50 yards to have an attempt for a FG to tie defies any and all football logic.

It's cover 3 and he has deep 3rd.....you give up 10 yds all day long in order to prevent them from getting 50!!!

Otherwise, the D played well enough to win-limiting BYU to 13 points in regulation should've been good enough to win!

I really like how our FR LBs are playing!

Bench JG....give yourself to developing Shrout and Maurer for next year. JG ain't helping anyone win games.

Not "Every single problem facing the team", but I have ID'd a few: fans that don't hold the HC responsible for his actions, a QB that lacks the "vision" of an SEC QB (he'd be good as our back-up), a HC with a HC mentality-not one that is over his head and doesn't know how to fix it. Some fans knew early on that boy butch was taking UT Football into the toilet, they were shouted down and accused of not being real Vols, I fear the shouters have changed from boy butch to CP, without ever thinking how this is effecting Tennessee. Lord knows we need a real coach, and we need him now.
