Next coach is going to have some pieces.

I agree completely. All these people that want CBP gone will be complaining next year because the players will also be gone. Welcome to an empty TBA.

We have some serious holes no matter who the coach is next year. Hopefully, if it's a new coach, we give a little grace.

who ever said he was getting fired? all Hamilton said was he didnt know who was going to coach Tennessee next year. we all expected a suspension and maybe he was referring to that. Who hit the panic button??

This is getting a little old.. WHEN Pearl is fired, The world will not end.. I promise

I have been a Pearl supporter for a long time, but for his offenses he deserves to be shown the door. Regardless of who he is, or what he is done for the program.

He is a liar and a cheat and for all the good he has done it has crumbled beneath him with his actions..

Pearl is gone, If Jones and Ware choose to go elsewhere it will be after sitting out a year..
This doesn't make the university look bad, it's proper procedure.

Tennessee Pride, I agree when and if Pearl is fired the world will not end, but it will put us back at least 2 years if we don't get Jones. I think it would be a lot like Dooley's situation and the next coach would be expected to have the ball rolling in year 3. More importantly, it's not proper procedure when you lie to recruits and tell them your coach is going to be here next year, then he is fired. Jones won't be in Orange bottomline IF Pearl is fired, because both Hamilton and Pearl lied, so it's another black mark on Hamilton if Pearl is fired. Like Gerald Jones for Heisman said nothing has been determined yet, so this is just speculation.

Unless they are slow, They knew about everything with the NCAA before they signed their LOI's..

It was their choice to sign with TENNESSEE to play basketball , 100% aware of the situation that was looming over the program.

If you feel bad for the kids why don't you do something nice for them..
I hear edible arrangements has a sale

Regardless of Pearl not being here they will still be playing in a competitive SEC league and getting a good FREE education.

Chris Jones will not be coming to Tennessee IF Pearl is fired, which still has not been announced yet. He has announced he is going to Louisville if there is a coaching change, so there goes the starting point guard and one of our major pieces IF Pearl goes. We will have some serious holes to fill including the point guard and Center positions. Also, Scotty has a great shot at being drafted, although you may personally feel like he doesn't. Scotty will definitely be drafted in the first 45 picks, top 2 rounds.

Chris Jones is signed, sealed and delivered to UT. They would have to release him from his scholarship for him to go any where else. Don't think the new coach would be likely to release him.

People keep saying it will put us back and it will hurt the program..

BOTTOM LINE:

The person who represented our university lied and manipulated recruits and the NCAA when being investigated..

WE DESERVE TO BE PUNISHED AS DOES EVERY OTHER SCHOOL WHO COMMITS THESE ACTIONS

We won't be in the Sweet 16 for the next 3 years with or without Pearl..

If Hamilton wants to act like he has balls then he needs to get this over quickly so we can get another big men to complement the talented guards coming in.

McRae is a scorer, and I think he will thrive under the next coach. He's got to learn to work his tail off defensively, but as far as a scorer he is that.

Chris Jones is lights out. Enough said.

Kenny Hall has great potential in the post for us. He has some very polished offensive moves but has got to work on his footwork defensively to stay out of foul trouble.

Kevin Ware is going to provide us some great athleticism and is your prototypical "slasher." If some of you guys haven't got a chance to watch him, his dunks are unreal.

You have a lot of potential in Maymon, Woolridge, and Tatum but the first two have a weak basketball IQ, and the last one may just need a coaching change to help him gain some confidence in his game again.

We are definitely hurting as far as post depth, but this team has some pieces to build around not only for next year but for the future.

Edit: Also if we can get a coach in quickly, he can form a bond with Scotty when Scott realizes he has a chance of not being drafted.

That Woolridge thing is a joke right?

Maymon and Woolridge will not never contribute. Woolridge does not care and Mqymon just can not play more than 4 feet from the basket.

Or we'll get stuck with some guy who's trying to "bring in the pieces" to run his, and only his system; no adjustments

In regards to Jones, what would the kid do if the NCAA suspends Pearl for a year or two? Is he going to sit out a year then? I love Bruce and I appreciate EVERYTHING he did for this university. He made men's basketball fun but more importantly he made it relevant to Volnation again. Hat has said that if UT makes the move they are going after some quality names, and I have a hard time believing that some of these players and recruits would risk their future until they know something definite.

Fascinating analysis gang. You are assuming Chris Jones gets in school, which is still up in the air at this point and that he can immediately walk in and be "the man" at PG. That is "if" he still wants to come to UT. Tough assignment for UT and Jones if you ask me.

We were going be be bad next season because we have only two quality players that are not seniors and might return. Instead of comparing Pearl to Green or Buzz, let's compare the returning roster to that of Fulmer. The football Vols are just now climbing out of that hole. Granted - it can get done quicker in basketball, but the principles of what has to happen are the same.

That makes sense.

Better yet, is there a chess team or debate team we can compare to? Football is still too close, being an athletic sport and all.

Has UT's men's choir faced staff turnover recently? That might make a great analogy.

Did they let anyone out of a LOI, or did they just allow transfers of juniors and seniors? Either way, I don't expect it to happen.

Derrick Williams, sophomore forward for Arizona, was allowed out of his LOI from USC after the firing of Tim Floyd for alleged $$ transfer to OJ Mayo scandal.

A school that fires a coach for NCAA infractions and then tries to hold an 18 year old kid to a LOI has the appearance of being a scumbag university. People can try to believe that a kid is committing to a University, but in reality, he is committing to the coaching staff.

That being said, UT can stipulate that a player not transfer/sign with another SEC school.

Whoever the coach is next year, we need to get a couple of athletic, hard-working wingers who can handle the ball and shoot and have good attitudes. The mid-majors are FULL of them--not high school AAs but guys who can nevertheless play and get after it on defense. This team has players with attitude issues, and that needs to be cleaned up big time. I'm a big Pearl supporter, but that is my one beef with him--I think he's too much of a player's coach. We need some brass tacks.
