newspaper article: "Martin can't catch a break."

Well he's totally wrong about one thing. Austin Clark was not on the 76-77 team. He graduated the year before.

He's gonna get paid around 1.6 million not to coach starting next season if the brain trust at UT has any common sense.

Cuonzo has caught plenty of breaks.

They drop winnable games too consistently to just throw your hands up and say he can't catch a break. There is fundamental flaw here that is ensuring that we underachieve. It's not working. Let's just part with Cuonzo before it gets any worse. I can't even imagine what next year will look like with Martin at the helm.

The Vols wouldn't be a lock to win the Tennessee College state championship? Uh no, they wouldn't even be favored. Memphis would, plus we already lost to Vandy.

He is very Dooleyish. First thing that came to my mind was the LSU game that Dooley won/lost. Looks like both of them were bitten by the same snake.

With equal coaching the athletes on this team should beat the 1977 team by 20 going away.

I don't compare them. Dooley's were all ref things, UNC was such a debacle from the refs that the NCAA even changed the rules to reflect it. Cuonzo has had chances to win nearly all the close games this year and found ways to lose (or lose the ones we are up big on, like A&M).

The second part is, as bad as dooley was, he was one D coordinator from still being our head coach. Unless Cuonzo was secretly in talks with Boeheim, Coach K, and Magic Johnson all coming on as staff advisers, there was no coaching changes he could've made that would change the outcome of his games.

This is not a defense of dooley in any way, I just think cuonzo is much worse because he doesn't even have one game he can blame on anyone else but himself.

What's sad is you have to go back to 76-77 to find your best team. That's why we don't have a good coach now nor will we ever have a good coach.

That's the next game and the sort of comment that the coach of a struggling team should be making. This team can take nothing for granted especially on the road.
