Living in Minnesota, I don't get to hear much about the Vols and most of the sites I see (ex. UTSports.com) are not bias at all and I feel don't actually reflect on how the fans really feel. That's why I found this site and became a member. Anyways, I need to rant on with my fellow fans about this crappy season and let some steam out. Here it goes.

First of all, I don't hate Fulmer. He has done a lot of good things for the team.

Unfortunately, that was back in the 90's. I'm tired of seeing our team go into games so damn lacklustering. Our offense is crap and, like Majors said "the Defense has saved his ass many times".

Here's the problem. He sucks at recruiting now. We haven't had a top 20 recruiting class in 4 years and now it's showing. We are putting teams out on the field that cannot compete with the talent that other programs are managing to put out there with us.

How can this be going on at Tennessee? It's Tennessee. We play football and we have a huge tradition of winning. We have a stadium that holds over 100,000. Why the hell can't we get better players here?

Fulmer had his time. He had a great run back in the 90's. I remember reading a news article on Fulmer a couple weeks back and I think the writer put it perfectly when he said that Fulmer had his time during the 90's when he and Spurrier were at the top of the SEC food chain and everyone was looking up to them. Now, many of the programs have caught up and passed the 2 coaches. They were successful back then, but didn't adapt to the change and now they're out of date with the new programs of the era. Fulmer's time here has come and gone. He had a great run but it's time to close a chapter in the Tennessee football book.

Sad thing is I'd rather not, but I think it's what is best for here right now. Other big SEC programs (ex. Meyer, Miles, Saban) have brought in new big name coaches and it's helped them turn around and win. I supported Fulmer during the disastrous 05 season. I figured it was only bad luck that year. I had his back that whole year. Same year we had no offense. I remember the chants of Fire Randy Sanders. Hell, I was saying the same thing. Then Cutcliffe comes back and we're breathing new life. He leaves and where did the offense go? Worst thing we could have done was let him go. He deserved the head coaching job more than Fulmer did and now I realize that.

I've had enough. I supported him the first time, but now I can't. His time is up. We need to get the recruits back here!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is what will turn the program around and keep it a traditional powerhouse like Fla, LSU, Ohio St., Texas, OU, and USC. I mean, come on. You ask a kid who you want to be your coach and you think they'll say Fulmer before any of those program's coaches. No. Definitely not now. And where the hell did we get this OC from. Richmond? Aren't they DII? Why would we pull a DII OC to come here and expect him and his offense style work in the SEC? It's pathetic. The damn offense has become so predictable. Especially the 3 and out drives.:eek:lol: Short passes don't get you down the field every play. All teams do is stack the line and press the receivers and they have them stopped. Reminds me of the Viking's offense:swoon3:. And holy crap, can we actually sustain a drive where it doesn't stall when we get into field goal range? Jesus Christ, it's like they're allergic to the turf in the end zone.

The defense has always been steady as pretty solid since Chavis has been there. Even with the decrease in talent. Just get a coach with offensive skills and it'll be back up in championship form once again. How bout the Texas Tech coach? Mike Leach. I'm sure he'd leave there to come to Tennessee and he gets talent. The Texas ties would help a lot.

Every year I hit up at least one game in Knoxville. Driving from Minnesota, it's a long way. It's my big vacation of the year every year. This year won't be the same as the others though. I can tell that already when I'll be down there for homecoming Nov 8th. It really sickens me.

Well, I'm about done for now since I'm getting tired, but I'm sure you guys will hear more of me again. Thanks for letting me on the site.

Welcome to the board.

First off Clawson was the HC at Richmond which is a I-AA school or what ever they call it now...something subdivision. Recruiting also isn't a problem. We pull in the recruits, especially for the difficult regional boundaries we face.

Secondly, and this is my opinion, Mike Leach is trash and a huge dbag and I may have to kill myself were he to come here.

Third and finally, I'd give Clawson a bit more of a chance. We have no idea how much control of this offense Fulmer is seizing and it would be unfair to dismiss Clawson so early.

It just sorry to watch cause it reminds me of the Randy Sanders offense when Rick Clausen was QB. Yes, he hasn't been there too long, but holy crap. Look at the Auburn game. Three times all we needed was 15 yards to get into field goal range and we couldn't manage that. 3 times. Yes, it could be Fulmer's fault, but the play calling from either one sucks. Leach is a big D-bag, but he runs a great offense. Something Tennessee has lacked. I still have to disagree with the recruiting. Tennessee should have no problems being in the south and close to spots like Ohio, and Pennsylvania where a lot of the talent that Ohio St. recruits at are pulled from. It would help getting some of the talent out of Texas. Go into the Scouts list and you see maybe 4 or 5 of the 150 committing to Tennessee.

I have a GREAT plan. Minnesota has Tubby Smith as their basketball coach. He won his NC in '98, but then was ran off from KY. Send Fulmer up there to be the new football coach. The similiarities between Tubby and Fulmer are striking.

Well, since Brewster is having a successful year in only his second year, I highly doubt they'll want Fulmer. Strangely, Tubby is getting a big following now!!!!!!!!

Send him up here if you want. I'll find him a job at the local Target or Wal-Mart as a door greeter.

Because scouts is worthless. We are having a very good class this year. We've been pulling people from Ohio (Ben Martin and Adam Myers-White), Pennsylvania (Stokes), and Texas (Stephens, Creer, Denarius). And we still manage to steal some recruits from the recently locked down states of FL and GA.

I just hope the 09 class ends up better than the last couple.

Oh, we're supposed to have snow today. Can't wait to be in East Tenn. in 2 weeks.

07 was a top 5 class. Then 08 came around when we didn't have that many schollys to give and we didn't pull a bunch of 4 and 5 stars and suddenly we are bad recruiters.

So I suppose I hope you're right. If the 09 class is better than the 07 class we will have a damn good class.
