It has been pretty funny to see how hard the DNC has resisted this guy...I've been following for a couple weeks and it's been an internal smear campaign. They tried to paint him as antisemitic, among other things.

The power structure wanted Cuomo, if you can believe it. Just incredible. NYT didn't endorse a candidate, and people believe it's because they wanted Cuomo but couldn't bring themselves to publicly endorse him, so they abstained. Cuomo had so many big-name endorsements. The DNC is lost, boy.

I have been to NYC at least 5x. I tend to go for 4 or 5 days and walk 6-10 miles a day, use the subway, etc.....I have never seen a crime committed.

It’s my opinion……after trashing Nash on here big time then settling down and paying attention to him closely…..that he likes to argue for fun and will get caught up in it and occasionally argue against himself in the same thread.
I think ultimately he’s a good guy or at least seems like it in interactions with him in threads where we are not play fighting

Political parties like politicians like Mamdani because they provide a lot of energy, generate media coverage, and help fundraise (maybe the most important part), but they don't actually want them in positions of real power. Kind of like AOC. MTG is the Republican equivalent. You already see this with AOC where she's clashed with Pelosi, was kept off/removed from some House committees, etc. They want to keep her where she's at.

It's a tough needle to thread because they want to have them out front, whipping people up, raising money, etc., but the more you have them out there the better chance they have of winning elections for higher and higher offices and getting into seats of power, which they actually want saved for the establishment candidates.

I'm not sure what New Yorker's expect. Why do they think everything in new York is so expensive?

There are so many back door agreements and mini tariffs all over the place.

For instance I know of this example first hand. A major water heater manufacturer there is required to direct anyone who needs a replacement water heater within the 5 boroughs area has to go through a single distributor........ He then charges a $200 fee just to give you the warranty replacement heater. For an additional $100 he'll deliver it to you within 1 week. (That same water heater brand new would cost you $300 at that time)

I still remember the guys name. I talked with him often in dealing with customer complaints, he was straight up wise guy. Everyone there it seems is running an angle of some type just like this.

That doesn't even cover the real crooks in NYC, the politicians and their ordinances and deals that keep money flowing into their businesses.

Now in principle creating government run grocery stores sounds like a great idea. But factor in the razor thin margins grocery operates at how affordable can these be without government subsidization? That money has to come from somewhere........ Higher taxes, Tax the rich! Well my friend if the rich get taxed better believe they will relocate or simply pass that along via their business. Who gets stuck with it, they people that can least afford it.

Government only creates more government, better paying government jobs we don't qualify for because we didn't know the right people. And less money in your pocket. People don't seem to realize they are being bribed with they own money. And then complain they don't have any.

I work for a car manufacturer. Car dealerships buy the parts from us for warranty repairs and then bill us. State and county law combined lets the 5 boroughs dealers charge us up to 130% more than what they paid for the part. Chicago is somehow even worse.!

Exactly, their ordinances and laws are what make everything so expensive there. Who sets the ordinances and laws? You guessed it! Now let's go get the real culprit keeping your pockets empty ........... The rich!

The NYC I knew in the late 90s to early 2000s when my buddy was at the merchant marine academy is gone. I debated moving there multiple times and living near great neck when I was young and working in manhattan and I’m so glad I didn’t.

More businesses will leave and move to NC and TN if they raise taxes again.
