New York City

I should've suspected you go to shady websites that infect phones.

I asked you to list the junk fees and you have nothing.
It's a stupid question. Junk fees are also called resort fees or a million other things. Have you figured out that they aren't taxes yet?

Last time I was in NYC, there was a "resort/amenities fee", a "destination fee", "credit card surcharge", etc.

Westin Times Square. December 2025.

Resort and amenities fee is common if it's higher end hotels. If the generics are charging this then yes it's a junk fee. The latter two are good examples of a junk fee.

Your boy just got there, so we shouldn’t be comparing his first month to Giuliani or anyone at this point. A decade low for Chicago is still an insane number.
The seven major felony offenses were 50% higher under Giuliani in 2000 than they have been at any point in the last 20 years. The fact that people act as if NYC is this scary place now and not then should show people how much tabloids like the NY Post lie about everything, but people like their tabloids too much

You can’t send an ambulance alone to a man who is charging people with a knife. How do you think that would end? Unarmed EMS crew vs man charging with knife.

Also claiming the police officer who literally stepped back and tried shutting a door between the two of them, claiming he escalated is insanely stupid
He wasn't charging people with a knife. He didn't pick up any knives until after the police arrived and escalated the situation

Resort fee are typically not a junk fee. It's common at higher end lodging with amenities that add to the reason to choose that establishment. The million other things is hyperbole.

They're only "common" in this country and are rightfully being challenged in many places

Pretty much everything 3* and above in NYC has those fees. The Hilton Garden Inn that was close to the Westin had several of these fees.

Of course, not just a NYC phenomenon. Pretty much every hotel from 2*-5* on the Vegas strip has these as well. VRBO and ABNB has plenty of them as well..

Of course, if these are eliminated, hotels will just raise rates.

Yeah, buddy crime has dropped over the last two decades. Is this news to you?

So he charged the armed cop with a knife, but you’re convinced he wouldn’t do that to an EMT?

And once again in no way did the police escalate. He literally tried hiding behind a door and the man continued to chase him with a knife.

You can’t send unarmed people into these situations.

Is that because the crimes were reported back then? Or maybe they actually cared about policing?

Dude, these are absolutely junk fees. They are adding $2 of value and charging $50-75 a night....

Dude if you are staying at a Super 8 and paying a resort fee then you should be staying somewhere else. If NYC is charging then they are gouging. This doesn't happen in most areas. This sounds like a New York problem. And yes, if you are staying in Vegas hotel where there is gambling, restaurants, nightclubs, shopping, etc then you are paying a resort fee. If you are staying in a motel then you won't have a resort fee.

Initially: "Zohran is an idiot, here's why we need taxes on tourists"
Days later, after learning what junk fees are (ie not taxes): "I agree with Zohran"

You brought nothing to the discussion.

You're like a passenger in a car asking someone do they want a ride.
