New wordmark...

The only way I can see it really working VISUALLY, is to have the background color (currently is a long skinny rectangle) to ALSO be slightly slanted to resemble the state of Tennessee.

What do you think about it? AND Why no "slant effect" on the 2nd N in Tennessee?

Is this any indication of the new upcoming font for numbers DeerPark?

Okay envision this.. From the first REGULAR N down through the rest of the word is regular font. What if only the first three letters are slanted to look like Tennessee..hope you guys understand.

Arguing about fonts.... For those that think a bunch of dudes arguing about uniforms isn't ridiculous enough.

Discussion is the purpose of this forum. Differing opinions lead to argument, regardless of the topic. It is also not "just" a font. It is the logo that will be on the chest of every Vol team for years to come. I think that deserves at least a few polarizing opinions, don't you?

the word mark is sorta of ok I guess, which doesn't say a whole lot for it

maybe they can get some elementary school students to make a better one

what's the point anyway...why not spend that money on something that makes sense; seats with backs and armrests at Neyland so we don't have to share our butt with some fat a$$

That would rile up a lot of fans because it would reduce Neyland's seating capacity to about 90K. I would like to see it brought up just to watch the fireworks.

Funny you say that because the new wordmark kinda resembles what it feels like sitting in Neyland.

How much actual money was spent on this ?

No money was spent on the wordmark, it was provided by Nike as part of them taking over the apparel contract.

They ran the numbers several years ago, putting armrests and back on the seats (and the corresponding 2 inch increase in seats size to accommodate the armrests) In Neyland would cut capacity to around 79,000. So since we would have cut capacity by 20%, are you willing to spend 20% more on every ticket?

Wow....I was only off by 11K seats.

A few years ago I was bored one evening and counted every seat (had to make a few assumptions) in Neyland. I looked at every section on UT's ticket site and counted around 98,000 seats. I assumed the other 4.5K came from the skyboxes/pressbox.

Hey, I've got a proposal... Since the wordmark was provided to UT by Nike at no cost I say UT should give away any apparel with said wordmark because it is el cheapo! No way I'm paying for that garbage design. Good idea conceptually with the shape of TN but absolutely horrible in print. If it's on any uniform then that's a shame and such a waste.
