New Uniforms confirmed

Bang! This is going to be a game changer....may get the VOLs into a bowl game yet.

Less material and a tighter fit means the jersey is harder to grab, and you can't tackle what you can't grab."

Is this an Art Evans quote?

Are you serious? Nike really won the NFL license bid? I'm a happy camper if so. Do you know when it's supposed to take affect?

The Nike/NewEra deal with the NFL will do into effect after the 2011 season (if there is a 2011 season). Will be formally approved by the owners and announced this week.

adidas made a bid they felt they could make money on, which would have been a combination of the adidas and Reebok brands. It's no big secret that these deals are pretty much money-losers for the company, even with the massive amount of gear that an exclusive license can move. The NFL contract was the only sponsorship in the adidas portfolio that was a money-loser.

Under Armour will retain its sponsorship of the NFL combine and draft, but could raise enough cash to even make a provisional bid. The dollars the NFL was looking for were absolutely ridiculous.

The big difference that I have noticed in the "new" jerseys in that the number is no longer on top of the shoulder but on the side on the shoulder.

That appears to be the only organizational alteration, however other small things did change. The Power T under the chin is larger and a checkerboard was added to the inside back of the collar.

Correct, but there are some NFL teams that experiment with Nike equipment and some with Adidas.

For example, the Broncos number font is a Nike font, the Texans and Patriots have an Adidas font.

Regardless of font, Adidas manufactures all NFL jerseys and official apparel through the RBK brand.

To my knowledge, different players can wear cleats of their choice, but uniforms, warmups, hats, socks, gloves, etc. are all manufactured through RBK.

I think a checkerboard design around the outside of the collar, along with a power T on the sleeves instead of numbers (see Notre Dame's jersey) would look awesome!

This thing doesn't even compare to the old tear away jersey! Earl Campbell usually wound up in the endzone in just his shoulder pads!
