He can put together a staff to handle the recruiting heavy lifting. If he shuts Clemson down on National TV while the announcers mention 9 times that he's taken the UT job, its publicity that we can't buy.

Boom this ... don't be shortsighted

Sources tell ESPN that Tennessee is in the process of trying to finalize a deal with Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt after offering him the job earlier in the day. Vols also interviewed Auburn DC Kevin Steele and Georgia DC Mel Tucker.

I don't mind if he coaches the playoff. But he must be recruiting for UT exclusively when not coaching. He needs to rally the fan base, but since it is Bama it does sting a little bit that he WANTS to coach them instead of build his future program for his 1st HC Job.

I bet Fulmer gave Pruitt a deadline as they left NYC. Good for Fulmer. DON'T cow down to this guy. Lets move on. We will have more respect in the end.

We'll have more respect and an aging coach who lost 75% of his games at Baylor. Yay.

This just reeks of a conflict of interest on Pruitt’s part. If you want the job, come get it. If not, coach the playoff.

Not really a good way to start off as the new coach of one of Alabama’s main rivals.

Kirby Smart did the same, worked out fine. Ya'll are making this a bigger deal than it is.

Didn't Jimmy also tweet that Brohm had accepted the job last week? Should we wait for a more reliable source?

Major conflict of interest if he stays on at Bama while he's recruiting for Tennessee. And if he cares about winning as a head coach he should be recruiting for his new school.

Got a friend in the AD office that just called and said Pruitt was offered and it wasn’t a secret. So it’s done I guess. He thinks Tee is coming too as OC. Not that impressive considering all the other options available a month ago, but at least it’s done. If he accepts.....
If he says no then Katie bar the door.

Not sure who UT will hire, but, when an offer is made and a contract signed, that person comes to UT at that point and starts fulfilling their obligations immediately.
