Im kind of indifferent to star ratings. Just like everything in life your gonna have some busts and your gonna have some that turn out better than expected. IMO its more of a guideline. Imagine a Corvette as a 5* and a Pinto as a 2* (being generous). You may have a Corvette break down after a few years and need to go in the shop, and you may have the Pinto that has been running since 76' with not a single problem. Coaching can also make a big impact on the star rating. A great coach can make 2* or 3* play like a 4* or 5* and make a 4* or 5* play like a 5* or 6*(if there was such a thing). A bad coach can make a 2* or 3* play like a 1* or 2* and make a 4* or 5* play like a 2* or 3*. (If any of that makes sense haha)

While Coach Majors will always be my coach, I dont hold anything against Coach Fulmer, like some do, and I really like him. I see Coach Dooley as a young Coach Fulmer. When Coach Fulmer took over you could see the fire in his eyes and hear it in his voice and he was ready to win. I see the same thing in Coach Dooley right now. A few years ago I felt that it was time for a change as far as Coach Fulmer was concerned, I just hate the way that it was done. In the end Coach Fulmer will always love UT and I would love to see him back in some form helping out Coach Dooley.

That makes one.

R.O.H welcome! I envy you. and thousands of others. never went to college, would love to win some sort of contest to go out on the field at neyland for one play. At almost 52 that's about all I'd be good for. live in florida now but have dreamed about playing for the vol's all my life, again welcome.

Hey guys, Im pretty new to the board, just joined a few days ago. Just wanted to say I love the site and hope I can bring some good info to it. Im a former Vol, I played under Coach Majors in the late 80s/early 90s. I still keep up with the program on a regular basis, so hopefully I can bring some inside info, that Im allowed to share, to the board. GBO

Did you go to the O/W game this year?

from now on we discard the star rating system and adopt ring of honor's simpler, sane, and more logical approach... worley is either a corvette ... or a pinto! same for all the others... devrin is a 63 corvette (one of the smallest) .... carson is currently a pinto but is working his way up to a chevy nova..... seriously tho, it will be nice to have a former player to do pre and post game evaluations with.. welcome aboard.. love the analogy

Welcome Man, do look forward to your views from an insiders perspective. I would have given one of my limbs to have played 4 years for the Volunteers.

Welcome to the board, it's great having a former player on here, don't know if there are any others but we are glad to have you. BTW if you played (or were on the team) during the '86 Sugar bowl, my mother watches that game every year around July, that's when I can tell football season is getting close, ha!
