Metter? i've lived in Georgia for 23 years and i have no idea where the heck Metter is!!! or Jeffersonville....now do you guys know where cochran or pitts is...i'll be impressed then...

Metter is the outpost that is about 2/3rds of the way down I-16 between Macon and Savannah. And yes . . . I know exactly where Cochran and Pitts are. I have traveled through both of them (rapidly) in the past couple of months.

You my friend need to travel I-16 more often. You are REALLY missing out. I know where Cochran is, but have never been to Pitts.

The most obscure thing I have done is a rafting trip down some creek in Lyons. I did that while I was dating a chick from Dudley.

Lyons - the city whose claim to fame is "We're really close to where they have the onions."

I was there in the late 80's and they still had a Tastee Freeze.

BTW, Jeffersonville is the geographical center of the state.

why does the rebel flag upset people.

The display of the flag remains a highly controversial and emotional issue, generally because of disagreement over exactly what it symbolizes. Many Southerners who support the Confederate flag see it as a symbol of their heritage and their pride in their ancestors who survived years of war under terrible odds and sacrifice, and find insulting the stereotype that all who display the flag are racists. Opponents of the Confederate flag see it as a symbol of the institution of slavery, or of the Jim Crow laws (1898-1965, after the Civil War) established by the many Southern states enforcing racial segregation within their borders for almost a century later, or even as a symbol of rebellion against the United States government. As a result, there have been numerous political controversies over the use of the Confederate Flag in Southern state flags, at sporting events, at Southern universities, and on public buildings. According to Civil War historian and southerner Shelby Foote, the flag traditionally represented the south's resistance to northern political dominance; it became racially charged during the Civil Rights Movement, when protecting against desegregation suddenly became the focal point of that resistance.
