Matt Luke from Ole Miss is leaving to become our new TE coach. Can't say I really know much about him, but from what Ole Miss fans are saying he is young, passionate about his job, a good coach, a solid recruiter, and they were really disappointed he was leaving. In the part of the article that you have to pay for on their website they have a description of him: He played for Cutcliffe in his first game as HC in the 1998 Independence Bowl, was a GA at Ole Miss and then left to coach at Murray State. He was the only coach Orgeron kept on staff and was promoted from TE coach to TE Coach Recruiting Coordinator and assistant offensive line coach. They also say he has a reputation as a strong recruiter inside the state of Miss. Only time will tell, but I trust that Cutcliffe made a good choice.

I guess that we're not going to get a special teams coach. One of these days, Tennessee might start treating offense, defense and special teams all as 1/3 of the game.

Noticed he is also the recruiting coordinator there. With Adkins moving to O-line curious to see if he (Adkins) remains UT recruiting coordinator.

Its about time to get the TE's back in the passing game again.
From what I've read and saw on TV, Luke Stocker should be a great TE once he puts on about 20-25 lbs.

Here is some more info from the Ole Miss board:
"On Matt Luke
...Luke played for the Rebels in the late 90s and was the starting center for Cutcliffe's first game, the 1998 Indy Bowl against Texas Tech.

He's a player's coach in every sense of the word and a heck of a motivator. During Cutcliffe's final two years here, he was the one responsible for giving the motivational speech (The Winning Edge) during the Rebels' last practice before a game. Luke made good tight ends out of the player's he coached and knows the offensive line very well.

Luke was also Orgeron's new recruiting coordinator. If you have a copy of the Rivals.com Recruiting yearbook there is a story that details Luke's work ethic last year during the coaching change and what led Orgeron to name him his recruiting coordinator when he first arrived.

Bottom line is that Ole Miss will miss Matt Luke as a coach"

There was a JUCO TE supposedly visiting them this weekend. I wonder if he will follow Luke here? it looks like we already have three potentials according to Rivals.

Loading up at TE. Last i looked, it was 6 or 7 we are recruiting, with 2 commits (i think). Brown has been ok, but not that punch we have lacked. I keep hope that one of the Cottam brothers will step up as well, Brad 6-8 260-265, Jeff 6-7 260. These guys will all get looks at other positions once spring camp starts.
Matt Luke sounds like a solid hire for CPF/CDC. :cross:

Luke can coach.

I graduated from Ole Miss, and he was a coach while I was a student there. Ole Miss has had some pretty good TE play(Wesley Walls, Chris Mangum, Rufus French, Doug Zeigler). As a player he was known for great fundamentals, and as a coach the fundamentals have carried over, but he has also been a youthful and exciting presence.

I think this is a good hire. He can help Adkins with the O-line as well, especially at the Guard and Center spots. I think he's also a pretty good recruiter.

I think he is a good hire. I think i read that he is going to take over as recruiting cord.
