I know this is probably the last thing on a lot of people’s minds giving the current state of the world, but wife and I are expecting first child in September and will need a new vehicle. With this virus going on it’s got me thinking auto dealers will be reeling and looking to make a good deal. Any thoughts or know about any good deals for SUVs? I’ve seen several companies offer some sort of payment deferment for several months right now. Seems like it could potentially be a good time to buy for us now instead of waiting until baby is here for a new ride.

Think I saw a commercial for 0% interest by an automaker. Don't know which one. Of course, to get that you likely need a perfect credit score.

The Kia Telluride is a sweet vehicle. 0.9% Financing and a 5yr/60k warranty are also attractive.

A friend of mine got a Mazda CX5. He got one with all the bells and whistles. I don't care about any of the tech/convenience features that seem to matter to a lot of folks, but that CX5 is a pretty sweet ride. I think the next size up is the CX9.

Not an SUV (don’t know how big you’re thinking), but when my 2002 Accord finally disintegrates into a pile of oxidized silver paint, we’re looking at Subaru Outbacks.

It has great visibility, I like their cameras and other safety assists, and I like not having to climb up into (or fall out of) my daily driver.

Yes, it’s great for old farts like me, but it can be plenty distracting driving a little one around, too.

The Mazda gets great reviews from the car magazines.

Yes, this could lead to good deals. It could also lead to a shortage of pre-owned vehicles on the market. There are a lot of things that could happen. Most of the "deals" you see on delayed payments will NOT save you money. There are lenders offering up to 120 day deferred payment. That may help in the short term if you have cash flow issues, but not in the long term. Interest rates were already trending down.

I'm thinking about getting a Terrain with that deal. I'm looking to buy during this time so I think I qualify as a "qualified buyer"

Why the shortage on pre owned vehicles? Something I haven’t thought about. We will definitely look at used too

Typical when economy dips. More people buy used to save money. Less new car sales means less trades coming into market. It would take a while to see the affect. Again, be wary of the "no payments until" thing. Look for more substantive programs, such as low rates or rebates if going with new.

We really like our Acuras. We have 3 MDXs and a 4th one for sale. We had one before these which we bought used and went 300k miles. My daughter has an RDX.

I despise Hondas, especially the newest ones. They set off my Escort 360 radar detector.

Hondas set off your radar detector???

Must be the Adaptive Cruise or the Lane assist sensors.

I think it's lane assist. They set it off when they are behind me or in front of me. When I approach one from behind on the interstate and I'm going over the speed limit, I never know whether to pass them or not. I believe it's K band they set off.

Why not a minivan instead of an SUV? You can maneuver and carry stuff a lot easier in a minivan.

Fir SUV I'd go with a Chevy Suburban or Tahoe or GMC versions the Yukon or Yukon XL.

I love the updated look that Ford did to their Expedition beginning with the 2018 model.
