New start

You guys whining and crying about hiring from bama are an embarrassment. I don’t care where we hire from as long as they get our program back to true Tennessee football. Everyone has to come from somewhere. It’s no wonder our fan base is painted as a bunch of inbred idiots. As much as I hate it, I don’t blame ESPN for giving us down the road every chance they get. If you look into the past we had some decent coaches and players that weren’t Tennessee boys. I bet you guys wouldnt be crying if a championship coach from somewhere else was hired as our coach.

Put on your big boy pants, put your binkie in, cover up with your blankey and get behind the hire we’ve made. He’s done nothing but good things so far, and he’s barely been on campus. I’m not hyping the hire up, as I’m a proof kind of believer. I will give him the chance until he gives me a reason not to though. You can get behind the Vols entirely, or you can pick a new team. Pretty simple.

Go Vols

Way older than you are.

Then you should understand that it is not envy of their recent success, but a long standing hatred Tennessee has had with Alabama.

Either way, not sure why some said some of the things they did considering I was just trying to say I wanted to make a new start and try to find positives rather than focus on the Alabama thing. I would have thought that could only be taken as a good thing...

Many of you know I have had a hard time with so many Alabama natives on this staff, because I hate Alabama more than any other team.

However, if he is willing to "sell out" to take job (even though yes it is a promotion), I will let it go and just hope he succeeds. I never rooted for him or anyone else to fail btw, it's just I felt like we sold out by asking them (Alabama) for help. I did not care if not from Tennessee, just not born and raised Alabama coach.

Anyways, just wanted to put it out there that I am trying to get back to being positive, and not focus on negative.

I will always hate Alabama, but like I said, I will get behind him and staff and cheer on the VOLS!!!
Right there with you brother. I'm still reserving judgement till after Florida game. The more I think about it though all he has to do is be better than Butch. I think he stands a real shot of that. One more thing, we've averaged better recruiting classes than UGA and UF the last 4 years. We have the talent.

Glad you'll support him and his staff...but the only thing that matters is if the kids will...hopefully they'll block out the fans and media who are not in the film room, that are off the field and are outside the locker room.
Beware of the 'rat poison' too!

I was just trying to right a wrong I made in another thread some time ago, that's why I felt thread necessary.

Sorry if it bothered you. :hi:

It's not that big a deal, and if it bothers you then it bothers you. I get it...to a degree.

But my problem was not with your hatred of Bama, but rather with the fact that people just start threads willy nilly to post their random thoughts at that moment, which is why I could never be a member of twitter. And your post seemed to be just that - a random thought that didn't need a new thread.

I have no problem with you whatsoever, I am just not interested in your every thought. Just as you would not be interested in mine.

:hi:

Consider that Nick Saban is 11-0 all time against his assistants clobbering them in most games and you cam see what a boneheaded move it was for Fulmer to hire one. Good way too protect his legacy IMO.

We are talking about all his assistants who became head coaches who have never beaten him. Now we are going to have one more.

2010, Alabama 41, Tennessee 10
2011, Alabama 37, Tennessee 6
2012, Alabama 44, Tennessee 13

Vs. Will Muschamp (2-0)

2011, Alabama 38, Florida 10
2014, Alabama 42, Florida 21

Vs. Jim McElwain (3-0)
2013, Alabama 31, Colorado State 6
2015, Alabama 29, Florida 15, SEC title game
2016, Alabama 54, Florida 16, SEC title game

Vs. Mark Dantonio (2-0)
2011, Alabama 49, Michigan State 7, Capital One Bowl
2015, Alabama 38, Michigan State 0, CFP semifinal

Vs. Jimbo Fisher (1-0)
2017, Alabama 24, Florida State 7

Saban’s mastered attention...there are things that pull us off of attention. It could be fatigue, it could be boredom, it could be energy. You have to learn to keep showing up with your attention. That’s why Saban wins, he’s just better at his attention than everyone else. So he’s got an extraordinary organized mind. It’s systematic. His mind is set up in systems they say. Very unique.

Yet you were tooting Kiffin’s horn harder than anyone. Hypocrite much?

I've only blocked two people. The Woo guy and now another. Not trying to be "freaking cool" (even though I'll accept that), but when someone proves they are either a troll or a fool, why waste bandwidth?

Fair enough I suppose. But why do you have to announce to *everyone* that you're blocking someone? Letting the whole VolNation forum know you blocked someone wastes bandwidth too. :whistling:

Blah blah blah. The guys not invincible. He has had great success and is a very good coach, but someone always ends up beating the master at some point.

Don't forget that Pruitt has worked under him and seen others work under him and then fail. Gives a unique perspective. If Pruitt is smart enough, he hopefully can see what was wrong and be the first assistant to beat Saban. Or maybe he'll just get lucky. There's always a first.

Do you really think he wants to fall over and be "yet another of Saban's assistants that couldn't beat him" OR "The first assistant to beat Saban"? Obviously Pruitt wants to win. He can look at why Saban wins and why previous assistants that got promoted failed, and then hopefully translate that to victory for UT.

Back in the day Bill Battle was UT's head coach. Later went back as Al's AD (after a very successful business career). Bammer thru and thru, but a really good man and far from the worst coach we've had.As for not pissin' on one, at Coach Bryant's last visit Vol fans (cheerleaders, band members, ushers, and security folks) were trying their hardest to get a selfie with The Bear before the game.

I was raised to hate them. I always will. And Battle destroyed UT. He was a complete disaster.

You have zero clue he is a helluva coach. There isn't one scintilla of evidence. He has never been a coach, only a coordinator. Stop with the self-righteous BS. You said the same crap about Doolander and Botch.

You don't have a scintilla of evidence that he wont be a helluva coach. Now go crawl back under your rock. Troll.

It shouldn't matter where a coach is from. It is not unusual for coaches to come from rivals. I grew up with UT coaches from Florida and Bama, although Florida wasn't really a rival at the time. One of them was more successful than the other. As long as a coach is doing everything he needs to do to win, why should it matter where he is from? Does anybody think he plans to tank against Bama? I have no doubt CJP plans to do everything he can to win NCs at UT. Why wouldn't he?

Just keep reminding yourself that Cutcliffe was born and raised in Bama, and worked there until coming to Tennessee.

And Dickey was a Florida guy, who pulled us out of a small ditch a time or two.

Cutcliff was fortunate to have 2 Manning’s..

I was raised to "hate" Bama also, but Bama as a team. Actually I was raised not to hate, so maybe despise is a better word. Hating Bama as a team is different from hating a specific individual. I didn't hate Bear Bryant, but I hated Bama.

What about Shuler, Martin, Webb, Cobb, Thompson, Jeff Smith, Middlebrooks, Ainge, Crompton, and I'm sure there are others.

He was a successful coach at Tennessee without Peyton as well. Peyton will tell you Cutcliffe taught him alot. I think it goes without saying, when he needed help in the pros, he sought out Cutcliffe.

But, to use your point, your response is childish. Not everyone that is a UT fan is from Tennessee. If VN had it's way and limited Fandom to only those that went to UT and grew up and had significant roots in Tennessee, Neyland would hold EVERYONE of them.

I was born in Knoxville, grew up in Alabama as an Alabama Fan. When I was growing up it was either Bama, Barner, or you didn't matter. Very simple concept. I went to UT to school. I love E. TN. I will retire in E. TN. Hopefully I will die in E. TN and have my ashes scattered from the top of Norris Dam into the Clinch. I pull for UT EVERY Saturday (or Monday/Thursday, etc. when they are playing). I get physically ill when we play like **** and my wife will no longer stay in the same room with me. I sit in the stadium and generally have a pissed off look on my face when we are on offense because I think we should gain at least 7 yards every play. BUT, the hatred that many of you have for anything not orange is simply childish and rather elitist.
