Wow. As someone who just went through this myself, I can promise you that Layla Kiffin must be a hell of a woman. I almost got my head chewed off just for turning College Gameday on the TV.

Most of these coaches will have no problem with what he is doing, and would probably say as much in private. In public is a different story, there are a lot of politics involved.

No matter how many times I hear the story about Lane and Monte coming down to Destin to get Coach O, decked out completely in orange, it never gets old.

What a fantastic article. Put everything in to perspective and shows what Kiffin is really like. Man does this guy work his tail off. And no one can question his dedication.

I loved the story about firing the drivers boss and the secretaries that couldn't keep up.

Also, living with the other coaches and critiquing them after their calls. I love it.

When classes resumed in January, Kiffin gave his players three days to adjust to their new schedules before he launched an off-season training program led by Mark Smith, the strength coach he hired away from Steve Spurrier at South Carolina. Three days a week the players meet in the athletic center and run sprints in the early-morning hours before classes begin. Players lift weights on days when they don't have to run. "It's different from before," says junior tailback Montario Hardesty. "Last year we didn't start running until February. And there's more discipline now. We can't wear earrings or jewelry or headbands. One thing I've noticed is how hard the guys are pushing, trying to make a positive first impression. It's tougher than it was, but no one's complaining."

Good read, Lex. The man is definitely driven. I am glad we as Vol fans have him and his staff to lead our team. It was interesting about how he had to let the former support staff go because they were so slack. With Phil, complacency was rampant.

I feel compelled to give my wife props. She and I watched the SEC championship game vs. LSU last year throughout her labor.
