I don’t mind if you hijack it at all as far as I am concerned. In a World of constant argument and anger, it is good for civilized people to discuss the things that make life beautiful.
FWIW, I sort of feel like there is a also a fusion of western „cowboy“ music with our own beloved „mountain music“. I guess that is why they used to call it County and Western Back in the Day

FWIW, in my opinion, some of the Best „Country“ music out there today comes from Scandinavia (Norway especially). They have a thriving country subculture there and love the music. And being there, they aren’t beholden to the Nashville machine and can simply record what they love.
My favorite country band in the world is Norway‘s Darling West. They occasionally show up in Nashville for small venue shows. They produce awesome music

The history is really fascinating. It’s easy to forget that it was once called “Country and Western” back in the day, but Western Swing and the old cowboy songs are definitely in the DNA of modern Country. It really started out as dance music, and at one time Southern California was the epicenter of that style — at least as important as Nashville to the genre as a whole. It’s interesting to think about how the genre’s preferred imagery and spiritual locus, if you will, has shifted almost entirely from the west to the southeast.

Texas is sort of the amalgamation of the West and the South. One reason such a large number of people feel comfortable there (plus they have Buc-ees) 😉

Is there a country music thread over in the pub? I will check and create one of there isn’t. This is a topic worthy of ongoing discussion IMHO
And for some reason, I can’t get the song Amos Moses out of my head today 😂
Now THAT‘s my kind of country 😉
