As far as rivalries the UL, IU and UNC games are pretty much it. A multi-year deal is in talks with Duke as well. SEC games are just that - conference games. Some obviously bigger than others but not the same as the OOC rivals.

UK and IU have ended their rivalry. They will no longer play annually. For the record, I'd like to see UT and UK continue playing 2x a year as well. I agree with Zan, a loss to UK is not near as bad as a win against them is good.

Yeah, I can see that happening, that's why I would definitely want to play KY twice this year and hopefully year 3 only leaving one year with a single game. I would think if the SEC was looking to expand again, that it will be done by then.

Thanks for that post, I never knew that is how the schedules were made out in other conferences. I like the tiered system as well. Makes total sense, kind of how the NFL does their schedule balancing (in addition to the Big East).

It seems that we would play KY twice just once every three years. There's 12 teams besides UT and Vandy. We play four of them twice every year, so it takes three years to play everyone twice in a single season.

Sounds like in two of the three years, we'll get three from the former East twice (counting Vandy) and two from the former West. In the other year, we'll get two from the former East (counting Vandy) and three from the former West.

Possible sets of opponents to play twice, using alphabetical order:

2013: Vandy, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Arky
2014: Vandy, KY, Missouri, Auburn, LSU
2015: Vandy, USC, Ole Miss, MSU, TAMU

That's how I interpreted it.

Missouri/Arkansas is the only rivalry between teams from different former divisions. So, they'll both get two teams from their division and three teams from the other division (counting their permanent rival) every year.

I hate that we won't get to play Florida, Kentucky, and Vandy twice in the same year now.. I liked the old schedule. Bleh.

On a side note, I wish there was more exciting stuff going on because now that this forum has died down I actually have to work when I'm in at the office. Ha.
