Makes sense, as you’ve probably seen, multiple players will be going for a loose ball and there’s one guy that uses that opportunity to blow someone up. It’s a cheap hit on a player who’s focused on the loose ball. Ear holing someone for the sole purpose of trying to hurt them is no longer part of the game.- A player attempting to recover a loose ball is added to the list of defenseless players.
Seriously?
I don't have a problem with it being a rule, I just think whether or not a player is making a T is going to be up for debate.Personally, I don’t think so. Apparently it was an unwritten form of a fair catch before. Shane Beamer tried to play in the gray area in last year’s Citrus Bowl. Led to some words from Illinois’ Bret Bielema.
Do you mean it tho?Wish we would have had that rule when Guarantano was here - made my stomach churn every time he did that fake bow and arrow routine...I mean he did it for a first down, touchdown. pass reception...anything.
Yeha it would have hurt us with penalty yards, but it would have got him to quit doing it...
While I disagree, I've seen penalties for guys pretending to lift their leg to pee like a dog or I think a crotch grab a la Michael Jackson. So simulating the firing of a gun equates to “gun violence”. Ok wow.
Yup AJ & Curt would’ve racked up some penalty yardage. I miss seeing those two out there getting the team hyped up spraying invisible lead. Don’t think a reasonable soul on the planet had an issue with it.
I still think that a player who fakes an injury should sit out until the other team either punts, kicks, turns the ball over, gets a first down or touchdown.Bout time!![]()
Crackdown on faking injuries among rule changes
Officials will be cracking down on college football players who feign injuries, the number of overtime timeouts will be reduced and referees will use different verbiage when announcing the results of video reviews.www.espn.com
It’s about time they stop acting like they’re shooting a bow and arrow out there. Can’t wait until FSU finds out a tomahawk is a weapon. This is my favorite
• All forms of gun violence are not permitted and simulating the firing of a weapon is an automatic unsportsmanlike foul. This year, if a player simulates the act of brandishing a weapon, it is considered an unsportsmanlike act.
Reasonable people just made a very good rule to control it. Your argument by intimidation is sad and pathetic. And wrong. So simulating the firing of a gun equates to “gun violence”. Ok wow.

Simulating a gun being "unsportsmanlike" is lame. Are we that soft?
So a player for the Cowboys can't pretend to shoot pistols?
Good grief
We’ll see, of course, but I hope this change keeps the ugliest fakes out of the game. Like that nonsense when Bama ran somebody on to fall down. That’s the worst."after the ball is spotted" so it normally take about 8-10 seconds for refs to spot the ball after the whistle? That's still plenty of time to get the flop signal from the coach, grab your heart, "declare this is the big one" and go to the ground. Seems like most of the fake injuries happen before the ball was spotted. I guess we will see if this helps!
