New QB Transfer, Kasim Hill

I see a backup QB for us the next couple of years. I think all this transfer does is put our current backup QBs names in the transfer portal next year. The QB room will look pretty good with JG, Hill and HB. I'd like to keep Maurer but he's probably too talented to sit the bench his entire time here, he'll be the 1st to go I believe.
And he’s the one we’ll be watching on Saturdays highlights while kicking ourselves in the ass for not supporting him. JMO but he’s the LAST one we want to see go.

KB you’re doing the same hit job on this kid that the JG detractors are doing to him. Hill is better than that.

I like the move it’s a zero risk pickup of a proven starting QB with real game experience to add depth. He needs a full year of rehab and Fitz’ S&C then we’ll see where he is next year. Could take pressure off Bailey to compete right away, maybe even allow him to RS. Also allows us to not waste a spot recruiting another ‘20 QB.

You honestly see little potential here under the terms of this deal? If so SMH
Let me also add that I’m not “doing the same hit job” at all. I’ve not said “he sucks”, “he’s horrible”, “he can’t do anything right”, etc, etc. All I’ve done is bring up empirical evidence that defines his effectiveness as a quarterback thus far in his career, in a similar way that I do while citing JG’s stats that define his. Fact is, thus far, it’s not even close....JG is the more effective quarterback.

JG go pro......laughable there are heisman trophy QBs sitting at the house that couldn't play in the NFL

Most of time Heisman trophy winners aren’t that good overall. They are good college qbs that can run out of trouble and pull a play out. Not what NFL qb need or do.

No you cherry picked one stat as “empirical evidence” to claim Hill is less effective than JG. There are posts in this thread that supply much broader “empirical evidence” as to Hill’s actual effectiveness and potential.

When JG’s detractors do same you call them out on it.

As far as JG being “more effective” it’s hard to refute that given the other guy has had two debilitating injuries.

Two torn ACLs and a new coaching staff that obviously told him they were going to bring in a grad transfer. This is taking a flyer on a guy for depth and recruiting bait.
thank you for answering! I had a bunch of replies and none of them were informative but yours!

Before this devolves into yet another JG debate thread, here's some highlights from our new transfer...

Nice video. Anyone notice Maryland's artificial turf has a big ripple in it 5 yards deep in the (to your right) end zone. Sort of like what my carpet looked like after a poor installation job. Seems a cleat could snag that and it mess up a play.

Next year is JGs senior year, so it will be his last regardless. When this guy is eligible he will be dueling with Shrout, Mauer, and Harrison Bailey for the starting spot. All of whomever should have plenty of eligibility left.

This could mean the staff may feel there is a chance the current backups have a far way to go to be ready to start SEC football. It could mean they feel one might transfer. It could mean they want insurance. It could mean they want as many talented QBs on the roster as possible. Or it could mean nothing....probably that

Or it could mean they think JG won't make it, and one of the other back ups will take his place, and JG quits, and need another qb

If our ol is not greatly improved Mauer should be starting this year, simply because of his running ability. Depends on how much time JG has to pass. If no more time than last year, better off with a running qb threat.

Seriously doubt he's ever going to run around very much again after 2 ACLs the last 2 seasons.

You know I had the same doubts until I just read a medical article that stated about 90% of athletes make a full recovery from ACL tears and that when repaired the athlete can actually end up being a better Athlete because the new reconstructed ACL is stronger.....

That’s crazy.
