New QB Transfer, Kasim Hill

The idea that JG would declare for the NFL draft at the end of this season is laughable given his current body of work unless there are concerns he could be academically ineligible (and I doubt that). He would have to SERIOUSLY upgrade his on-field performance this year in order to make a rational decision to declare. The more logical explanation for this transfer QB is that Pruitt said we needed 2 QB's in this class for depth purposes. We have Bailey, but appear to have lost King. Hence the transfer.
JG already graduated bruh.

Dang. Nice pickup. I'm a bit nervous this season has zero backups with a snap. Love having 4 guys competing in 20 if JG happens to leave.

Agreed. Even if JG stays, having JG pushed, a solid backup, and get Shrout, Maurer, and Bailey up to speed, has zero negative ramifications. I think Bailey will eventually be the guy, but I wouldn't want him taking snaps before he was a sophomore, unless he was just Trevor Lawrence good, and you couldn't keep him off the field. And if that's the case, I want us to have a better OL so he doesn't die.

This could also mean that the staff likes so much what they have in Bailey, Shrout and Maurer, that they would rather bring in a transfer to give a year or two for them to grow up, rather than wasting a spot in a loaded 2020 class pursuing a QB other than Bailey.

And the way things are now with us still in on Smalls, Jarrett, Baron, Washington, Gilbert, Eason, Whitehead, Sewell, etc....we need all the spots we can get.

Doesn’t have to be Trevor Lawrence good. Jake Fromm, Jalen Hurts...hell Jake Bentley good is more than achievable! As long as the BEST OPTION plays.

Which brings up (pause for groaning) does this count against 20? Cuz we’re down to 9 spots if so. 😎

Agreed. I'm really hoping that we can improve our OL in the next year or 2, so that by the time HB takes over, he'll have solid protection. Everyone here knows OL has been our weakness. It's one area that it's hard to play catch up in.

Eek. Yeah, I think he will. Don't think you can bring in a transfer and him not count against the 25 anymore.

9 spots? So....Smalls, Sewell, Justin Rogers, Gilbert, Jarrett, Washington, Chris Morris, Reggie Grimes, and one more? Sounds good to me.

Hubbs confirmed he’s a walkon. Save the mattresses.

Next year is JGs senior year, so it will be his last regardless. When this guy is eligible he will be dueling with Shrout, Mauer, and Harrison Bailey for the starting spot. All of whomever should have plenty of eligibility left.

This could mean the staff may feel there is a chance the current backups have a far way to go to be ready to start SEC football. It could mean they feel one might transfer. It could mean they want insurance. It could mean they want as many talented QBs on the roster as possible. Or it could mean nothing....probably that

Maybe the coaches know our O-line is like a swiss cheese and they want another option once JG gets broken.

JG go pro......laughable there are heisman trophy QBs sitting at the house that couldn't play in the NFL
And a bigger percentage of NFL QBs who didn't win a Heisman....................wtf is your point? We live in a world were Nathan Peterman, Ryan Tannehill, and Blake Bortles are QBs in the NFL................Knowing that, you cant rule out any college quarterback from making it.
