I have heard there is some new NCAA scholarship limit rules, I guess the rules pertain to count backs. Anyone have the new rules or link?

Sorry if this has been already discussed.

They were talking about posing a rule similar to the new SEC recruiting rules. iirc they were wanting a max of 30 signed and 5 of those have to be backcounted from the prior year. SEC has a max of 28, this is a great rule, because I thought before they were just trying to handcuff the best division in college football

Yes the SEC once they put their model in place has been pushing the NCAA to get the same model.

so 28 is included in back counting? UGA has 27 and if they get Tunsil that is 28 and they are finished, even though they had 18 last year?

Yeah that is how it was explained to me. This will be huge to quite a few SEC schools.

I was told me either 28-29 is the new number if you are under the 85 cap.

The entire NCAA now follows the SEC 25-man signing rule limit, as well as adhering to the same back counting rule.

There is no hard number for back counting. It depends on what you signed in previous classes along with the kids you are bringing in. Ole Miss and Georgia could both sign 30+ this year if they saw fit because of small signing classes in previous years, while MSU can only sign 25(+ the two we have previously signed that are at Hargrave). You have to look at EEs and total signing over multiple years until the last time you signed over 25 spring enrolees in a single class(it isn't as easy as just looking back at a single season)...

That is pretty much what I have been told. LSU can sign 29 for the 2013 class I have been told.
