Could be entirely off base but if you think about it for first two weeks we operated in secrecy. No one knew what we were doing (who knew we weren't doing anything) All the sudden we are more out in open and raising the bar on $$$. To me, common sense says $6-8mm gets folks attention including agents who want a cut. The Gundy news broke late. By late morning tomorrow there will be a higher profile name or two who haven't been mentioned. Coaches and agents know we are in talks with others and need to act quick. We could fall back to lower tier than Gundy but I don't think we will. $$$ talks.

Every upper tier coach making $2-4mm isn't happy, or will see potential for big pay day and opportunity to be a legend.

I think you are seeting yourself up for a huge disappointment. The events that have transpired since Butch has been fired should be all the proof ypu need to see we are totally screwed. We are not getting a great coach. I dont even think we get a good coach.

At this point, its either an unproven risky hire, a coach from an FCS or promote an assistant tp head coach.

Yup, I can imagine the contract we offered Gundy raised eyebrows.

I think it will be too late. The AD is panicking now and going to sign whichever bum says yes first. We are doomed.

Hire Wanstedt! He’s got HC experience and a winning record at Pitt! Kiffin’s too dirty and Tee is too green.

What about Frank Solich? 154-90 record with a Big XII Title and 4 MAC Divisional titles. He rebuilt Ohio!

Barry Switzer! He’s got three rings! Bring out the Dump truck full of cash!

No wait... Tommy Tuberville! Go get him Dave! Make sure Peyton gives him a call to sweet talk him.

Seriously... I’m losing my mind over the idiocy of this mess.

Justin Wilcox should be someone on the radar. First year HC at Cal. Was Dooley's DC from Boise ST. under Peterson.

Tomorrow will be two or three JUCCO coaches.

The first one will say yes because they've never heard of Haslam.

I don't see a well thought out plan... I see desperation. Currie is out of his element... but its his **** sandwich and he gets to munch on it.

Does it have to be a big name? I think we get carried away with the name. Lets look at the top 4 teams.
Clemson Dabo Swinney was the Wr coach at clemson.
Oklahoma Lincoln Riley was the OC at oklahoma and in 2014 he was the OC at Eastern Carolina.
Auburn Gus Malzahn was the head coach at Arkansas State.
Wisconsin Paul Chryst ws the head coach at Pittsburgh.

We need to find the best fit for Tennessee. We also need someone that is going to be stay here.

But... None of them have built a program from the ground up like Frank Solich or Terry Bowden at Akron. They aren’t worthy.

Ok I really need to stop.

I'm afraid we're going to make another panic hire, just as we did by hiring Dooley, and screw it up again for another 5 or 6 years. They need to have an "intervention" with Currie and say dude you need some serious help with this.

They already did that. It got us rejected by Gundy.

I hope you're right. It's a great sounding narrative. Makes sense.
