Tennessee's defense should only ever be known as Orange Crush, but only when they are producing at a level that rivals some of UT's best defenses ever.

I always liked Orange Swarm, Orange Crush, or Orange Chaos myself.

Legion Of Orange could work too.

I keep coming back to "Monkey Finger D"... :ninja: Sounds ominous, in a what-the-heck-is-that sort of way. Awakens that fear of the unknown--which fits Shoops defensive philosophy.

And we wouldn't share that name with any other team.

Last year this team was 35th in rushing yards allowed, 37th in total yards allowed, 51st in passing defense. (Yes 20th in points allowed) but Shoop has a big job ahead if he is going to be a top 15 defense as he has usually done elsewhere. Its fine to be excited but please folks lets be a little bit real here and wait to see how we perform before we anoint a new nickname.
Did anyone notice on the Ole Miss/Arky replay from last year how RIDICULOUS it was to have the announcers keep talking about the Mississippi defense "LandSharks" as they were getting gashed for 53 points? This is why others like Alabama and Florida make fun of fanbases that start bragging before they have done anything. And btw, Ive been a Vol my entire life. Let this team develop and then lets see where we are, ok?

I was referring to the stability of a lot of posters on here. On July 31 these guys are giving nicknames and handing a key to the city to Shoop.

As soon as something goes wrong the panic button will be smashed and these same goobers will call for everyone related to UT football be fahrd.

Nobody goes from 100 to 0 like college football fans.

I wonder what the labels would have been on August 1st 2012 when the stories about new Defensive Coordinator Sal Sunseri's intensity, renown, and motivation were swirling on these boards? Can we not just take a wait and see approach to our new name, please?

Exactly. Some fans are already crowning the defense under Shoop to be something soectacular. Lets just wait and see what hapoens. Hopefully he performs better than expected, but we dont know.
